Actress Priscilla Pointer, best known for her roles in the soap opera “Dallas” and for playing the mother in the movie “Carrie” opposite her real-life daughter, has passed away at the age of 100.
Priscilla Pointer’s Career
Priscilla Pointer was cast in the role of a mother many times, including “Looking for Mr. Goodbar,” “Blue Velvet,” “The Falcon and the Snowman,” and, of course, “Dallas” and “Carrie.” She also appeared in an ABC Afterschool Special, “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors,” several episodes of “The Flash” TV series, and even an episode of “ER.”
Before her time in movies and TV, Pointer was a stage actor. She had roles in Broadway shows like “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “The East Wind.” Her husband, Jules Irving, was sometimes the director of shows she performed in. They were also co-founders of the San Francisco Actor’s Workshop, though it is run by the Vivian Beaumont Theater now.
Family
She is survived by three children, including her daughter, Amy Irving, who performed with her in seven films, including “Carrie.”
