Former Prince Andrew has asked the High Court in London to overturn warrants used to search two of his homes. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s claim challenges police searches connected to an investigation into allegations involving his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, The Associated Press reported.
Prince Andrew challenges searches at two homes
The warrants permitted searches at his residence on the Sandringham estate and at Royal Lodge, his former Windsor home. A judicial spokesperson confirmed Monday that a hearing is scheduled for Oct. 8 before Justice Hilliard, according to PA reporting carried by AOL.
The hearing will begin in private. It concerns a Thames Valley Police request to restrict access to court documents, the spokesperson said. The report did not establish whether Mountbatten-Windsor would attend.
Arrest followed allegations about his trade role
Police arrested him Feb. 19, his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The inquiry followed allegations that he shared sensitive information with Epstein while serving as the United Kingdom’s trade envoy. He was questioned and released under investigation, PA reported. An arrest does not establish guilt.
Mountbatten-Windsor has denied wrongdoing in his associations with Epstein, AFP reported. For related coverage, see our story on an Epstein accuser’s memoir and our entertainment news section.
