A Jak and Daxter 3 PC Port is Now in Beta and it’s a Fan-Made Project
For all the classic game lovers out there, Jak and Daxter 3 is finally getting a PC port, which is currently in beta. This is pretty exciting, given that some of the Jak and Daxter games were console exclusives and were never ported to PC. Now, the entire Jak and Daxter series is playable on PC. The kicker, the PC port being developed is a fan-made project. Here’s what we know about the Jak and Daxter 3 PC version in development, and where you’ll be able to play it.

A couple of days ago, a trailer showcasing Jak and Daxter 3 on PC was released. Many people believed it was a practical joke, given that it was released on April Fool’s Day; however, it has since been revealed to be real. According to the devs, the original Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy is the only of the three games not considered in beta, with Jak and Daxter 2 and 3 still containing some audio bugs and graphical issues.
Because this is a fan-made version of the original game, it isn’t officially brought by and developed by Naughty Dog; however, you’ll still be able to play the complete game on PC. The PC port of the game was developed by OpenGOAL, a fan developer company that recreated classic video games so that people may be able to experience them with modern hardware. Their website offers instructions on how to download and play Jak and Daxter 3. All you’ll need are copies of the original game and to launch the games through their Windows launcher on their website.
The Entire Trilogy is Available to Play on PC

This is extremely exciting news for longtime fans of the game, as it confirms that the entire series will be available to play on PC. However, the games are still in beta testing, meaning the OpenGOAL is still working out some kinks. The trailer showcased gameplay of Jak and Daxter 3, and I can honestly say it looks incredible. OpenGOAL did a fantastic job recreating the game for PC, and now many other players will get to experience the classic game on a new platform.
Not only did OpenGOAL port Jak and Daxter 3 for PC, but they also recreated the entire series, including Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy and Jak and Daxter 2. The PC versions focused on greater accuracy over emulation-based approaches and introduced additional quality of life improvements such as widescreen, 4k Ultra HD, 60 FPS, and better support for online modding. There are rumors that another Jak and Daxter game, Jak X: Combat Racing, will potentially join the trilogy of games on PC; however, that has yet to be confirmed by OpenGOAL.
Where Can You Play It?
Because the trilogy was recreated by a fan-made developer, you can only play the PC version of the games on the OpenGOAL website. Once you open the website, there will be a button that will have you launch the game. You’ll have the choice to launch the game through Linux Launcher, Intel MacOS Launcher, and Apple Silicon Launcher.
Jak and Daxter is a beloved classic game series that hasn’t seen a new installment since 2009 with Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, and even this game was developed by High Impact Games, not Naughty Dog. Remakes and remasters have been hot in recent years, with other development companies, such as Capcom, remaking Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, and even Square Enix’s remakes of the Final Fantasy 7 trilogy. Though Naughty Dog hasn’t officially developed a Jak and Daxter 3 remake, it’s nice to see the classic game recreated for modern gaming and on a whole new platform other than PlayStation.
