According to Parade, “Born Marie Thérèse Béatrice Picard on July 3, 1929, she rose to fame as Angelina Desmarais in Le survenant—one of Quebec’s earliest télé-romans. She spent more than 33 years bringing the beloved personality of Marge Simpson to French speakers in Canada. She walked away from the role after 33 seasons in January 2023.” Over a career that lasted more than 70 years, Picard appeared in countless stage productions, celebrated television series, and films, earning critical praise and numerous honours, including appointment to the Order of Canada and the National Order of Québec.
