Netflix October releases started with a massive influx: 133 new titles in the first week alone, including 104 movies and 29 series, according to What’s on Netflix. The headliner is East of Eden, the limited-series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s classic novel.

What’s New in Netflix October Releases This Week

East of Eden is a seven-episode limited series from co-showrunners Zoe Kazan and Jeb Stuart. It adapts Steinbeck’s multigenerational saga set in California’s Salinas Valley. Florence Pugh stars as Cathy Ames, alongside Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Joseph Zada and Joe Anders. Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton and Ciarán Hinds round out the ensemble, and Pugh’s Cathy is the story’s antihero. All episodes premiered Oct. 1. For more on the cast and story, read our East of Eden miniseries guide.

Halloween titles dominate the Netflix October releases. Horror arrivals on Oct. 1 include Dracula, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Friday the 13th, Psycho, Ouija: Origin of Evil and The Strangers. Lighter picks include the Twilight films, 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, The Devil Wears Prada, Bring It On and Love Actually.

More Netflix October releases include Call Me by Your Name and the Bourne films. Anime fans can browse our fall 2026 anime guide, and our October 2026 streaming picks cover more services.
