Fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the live-action Legend of Zelda movie. In particular, they have been wondering who will be the new Link and Zelda who will grace the big screen. Now, that question has finally been answered. Link and Zelda have been cast.
Who are Link and Zelda in the Legend of Zelda Movie?
Despite early rumors that the MCU’s Spider-Man, Tom Holland, would be Link, the movie has chosen to cast in a different direction. Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto posted on social media that Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link, and Bo Bragason will play Zelda. Miyamoto stated that he is “very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.” The post also included a photo of the two actors, perhaps in costume, though the close-up on their heads makes it hard to tell.
Who are Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth?
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth has previously appeared as Miles Wingrave in the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor. His most famous project was perhaps the Disney+ live-action remake of Pinocchio, in which he played the title role. Bo Bragason has appeared in the series Renegade Neil and Three Girls. As interesting as it would have been to see Spider-Man as Link, it looks like Nintendo wants to cast relatively unknown young people in their lead roles.
When Does the Legend of Zelda Movie Come Out?
The movie is currently set for release on May 7, 2027. It is currently unknown if the story will adapt one of the existing Zelda games or if it will tell a brand-new story. The casting of young actors in the lead roles could be saying that the story will be a coming-of-age journey for the two leads. In addition, one also has to ask another question. Will Link be the protagonist like in most of the Legend of Zelda games, or will Zelda step into the lead role?
