It’s a superhero summer, friends! DC Studios has already made big news with the success of Superman. Now, we have sources saying that a new Wonder Woman film is closer than previously thought! Read on!
DC Studios & Wonder Woman
The first news of a Wonder Woman feature came in June 2025. The writer hasn’t been named, but sources are indicating that James Gunn and others are pleased with how the script is coming along. Instead of a sequel to the wildly successful Superman, it sounds like Wonder Woman is being fast-tracked!
“Although Warner Bros. has sequel options on Corenswet and Brosnahan, a sequel announcement does not appear to be imminent. Instead, sources say the studio is fast-tracking a Wonder Woman movie.”
Who will play the Amazonian? That’s unclear, but with things moving along, maybe we’ll hear some casting decisions soon! One thing we are sure of is that Gal Gadot won’t be reprising the role. Hope for a third Patty Jenkins/Gal Gadot Wonder Woman film ended when Jenkins stepped away because of what the studio said about what she had submitted for the script. Apparently, it was problematic.
One fan favorite for Wonder Woman is Melissa Barrera of Scream and Abigail. In an interview with A Shot Magazine, she said:
“I think whoever gets the role, I just hope that they can embody the essence of the character because I think that those of movies, whether they’re Marvel or DC, their reach is so big. And because those artists that get those roles will inevitably get a built-in fanbase and have the eyes and the ears of so many people, I think that it would be nice if they did something actually positive with the influence that they have to at least be a good example of the kind of human being that you wanna be in the world, instead of just using it for self-serving purposes.”
