The Hajin map is set to anchor Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ mode when it launches Oct. 23, 2026, and Infinity Ward has already revealed enough about its layout and features to start planning a route before squads ever drop in. Here is what is confirmed about Hajin’s points of interest, how the zone works and what players should look for once they touch down.
DMZ returns for the first time since its 2022 debut in Modern Warfare 2, and Infinity Ward says this version is built from player feedback rather than another experiment, according to IGN. That makes Hajin worth studying closely if you plan to run Story Missions, Dynamic Operations or just free roam for loot.
What and where is the Hajin map?
Hajin is an open exclusion zone set on the tri-point border region shared by Russia, North Korea and South Korea, according to Infinity Ward’s blog post cited by IGN. Dexerto reported that the map will cover all three countries as distinct biomes, scaled down from their real-world footprint, and that Hajin is larger than Al Mazrah, the biggest Warzone map to date and the original DMZ setting in Modern Warfare 2, according to Dexerto.
Infinity Ward calls Hajin “one of the largest and most ambitious Call of Duty environments ever built,” per IGN. The zone ties directly into the Modern Warfare 4 campaign’s story, with an in-game description noting that the area “remains saturated with abandoned military technology, weapons stockpiles, and destabilizing threats” following the campaign’s events.
The Forward Operating Base: your Hajin home base
Every run through Hajin starts and can return to a Forward Operating Base, a player hub that squads can upgrade with new services as they progress. Confirmed FOB features include:
- A 3D Printer crafting station
- A Stash to save inventory between runs
- A firing range for testing loadouts
- A social space to regroup with teammates
The FOB doubles as a social hub and a staging ground, giving squads a safe point to plan before heading into contested territory, according to IGN’s reporting on the blog post.
Dynamic weather changes how you approach each POI
Hajin’s conditions shift as you play. Dexerto reported the map supports sunny, rainy, foggy and snowy weather, sometimes blending two effects at once. Infinity Ward also describes the zone as a “living world” populated by patrolling enemies, vehicle convoys and air traffic, meaning the same point of interest can feel completely different from one extraction to the next.
That variability matters for route planning. A foggy run near enemy patrols calls for a slower, stealthier approach, while clear conditions make open ground near convoys riskier to cross without cover.
Rogue Operators, AI threats and the Bounty Leaderboard
Squads in Hajin have to track two different threats at every location: Rogue Operators, which are player-controlled squads, and enemy AI combatants. The in-game description warns that “both Rogue Operators and enemy combatants are active throughout the zone, forcing every squad to decide when to cooperate, when to engage, and when to disappear before tensions escalate,” according to IGN.
Players chasing PvP fights can track progress on the new Bounty Leaderboard. Taking down rival Operators builds notoriety and climbs the leaderboard, which puts a price on the heads of top performers and rewards squads who extract high-value dog tags with bigger payouts.
Progression and loadouts across Hajin
Infinity Ward confirmed in a post on X that DMZ launches with dedicated progression separate from other modes. All XP earned in DMZ builds your DMZ Rank, which unlocks unique traits for each Operator. Players can also build loadouts for different playstyles using individual Active Duty slots, letting squads tailor their approach to specific POIs or threats.
What’s next for Hajin and DMZ
DMZ launches alongside Modern Warfare 4 on Oct. 23, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Warzone will no longer support PlayStation 4 or Xbox One once the game’s first season begins, according to GameSpot, and it remains unclear whether Hajin will eventually expand into Warzone’s battle royale map rotation.
Modern Warfare 4 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, according to GameSpot. Players checking their subscription options can see what else is arriving on the service this month in the Game Pass October 2026 lineup.
