T1 and Karmine Corp won their first series of MSI 2026. Both teams ended up with 3-0 victories. T1 had a tougher time, needing to make a comeback in game two. One of these two teams should qualify for the Bracket Stage. It could be the first of two meetings between the teams, with them looking towards the final qualification match in two days.

Their Opening Match

T1 played against the LCS second seed, Team Liquid, in their opening series. The North American organisation took the fight to T1 and should have won a game. Team Liquid hesitated to pull the trigger despite being ahead for most of the game. Karmine Corp barely had to sweat in their series after game one.

Featured Matchup

Doran Versus Canna

The two top laners had different performances in the series. Doran struggled against Morgan and died to him multiple times during the laning phase. Canna, on the other hand, had the better of Flauren, often getting better laning picks in the draft. The series will likely be the same. Doran usually blind picks or willingly plays a weakside champion. It will be up to Doran to draw as much attention as possible from the enemy team without resources. If Canna can not build a big enough lead against Doran, KC might struggle to get past T1 in the series.

Where Does Bard Land?

Keria and Busio are two world-renowned Bard players. Busio made a name for himself on the champion while playing for FlyQuest. Many regarded him as the best Bard in the West. However, even he does not hold a candle to Keria’s Bard. The T1 Support has a World Championship skin for the champion. He warps the game around him, impacting the map more so than any player. Teams have opted for two strategies against Keria. Either permanently banning Bard or trying to take it away in the first game of the series. Team Liquid did that, but they lost with the champion. Busio is the more competent Bard player and should be able to impact the map similarly to Keria.

Neither Team Showed a Significant Draft Difference

Despite the teams playing on a different patch from the Playoffs, there was little change in draft priorities. With both teams winning 3-0, we did not get to see what teams prioritize in drafts at the end of the series. Team Liquid’s draft preparation seemed to miss the mark throughout the series. Giving Oner his three iconic champions is probably not the approach. With him being an important part of T1’s success, keeping him off comfort is vital. Inevitably, the T1 players will get a champion they are comfortable with, but you have to limit their options.

Prediction

T1 3-1 Karmine Corp

T1 did not have their best performance against Team Liquid, with a weaker mid-game in the series. However, they did show they are still a force to be reckoned with, despite being in second gear. Once T1 turned up their teamfighting, Team Liquid could not match the LCK second seed. Karmine Corp, at the very least, has the benefit of being one of the best teamfighting teams outside of the East. If they can find advantages in the early and mid-game, they might be able to out-fight T1. That is still a tall order, considering T1 can win fights against any team in the world, even when behind.

A Chance to Reach the Qualifying Match

The winner of the series will play on the final day of Play-Ins. They will need one more best-of-five series victory to reach the Bracket Stage of MSI. The loser will await the winner of Team Liquid and Deep Cross Gaming in the Lower Bracket final. The loser of that series is out of MSI.
