Now that Resident Evil Requiem has wrapped up a successful launch, people are already looking forward to the addition of DLC for this installment. The last two Resident Evil games, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, introduced DLC content for their respective games, so obviously Resident Evil Requiem would do the same. And it’s true.

The devs are working on some major updates and additional content for the game, including photo mode, a surprise coming in May, a mini-game, and a story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem. Here’s what we can expect from the DLC, and what we know about it so far.

Photo Mode and a Surprise in May

Resident Evil Requiem director, Koshi Nakanishi, released a message on social media, expressing gratitude for fans’ support of Resident Evil Requiem and the enthusiasm that was displayed over the past couple of weeks. In the message, Nakanishi reports that Resident Evil Requiem sold over 5 million copies of the game across all platforms, an amazing feat given that the game released just a couple of weeks ago.

Nakanishi then goes on to explain that because of the support the game has experienced, the devs of Resident Evil Requiem are working on many updates and additional content for the game, as thanks for what the game has accomplished. Nakanish says in his message that the devs are working on adding photo mode for the game, for those who want to capture screenshots of this beautiful game.

Nakanishi also teases a surprise coming this May. There are literally no details about the surprise; however, he does note that the surprise is a mini-game that will be added in the special content menu in the main menu.

Added Mini-Game

As I’ve said, there are no reported details about this surprise, but Nakanishi does say it’s going to be a mini-game. Mini-games in Resident Evil are pretty fun. The most popular one comes from the Resident Evil 4 Remake, is the shooting game mini-game, where the Merchant provides you with target practice for all of your guns. You can earn rewards based on your performance, which will help you upgrade your weapons throughout the game.

Some people have already theorized that the upcoming mini-game for Resident Evil Requiem is going to be another Mercenaries Mode, where players get to take on waves of enemies while playing as other characters from different Resident Evil games. Nakanish did tease fans with photos of odd mini-game possibilities, including a Resident Evil-themed card game and a Leon romance game spin-off, though these are clearly not to be taken seriously. Whatever the case may be, fans are pretty excited about it.

Story Expansion

One of the biggest DLC expansions that Nakanishi announces during the video is the story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem. Though the game ended pretty cleanly, longtime fans of the series were left with many unanswered questions, like what Chris and the BSAA are up to at this point in the mainline story, or who Leon’s mystery wife could be, given that a wedding ring was revealed at the end of the game and in Leon’s concept art as part of the game’s bonus content.

Even though Resident Evil Requiem is getting a story expansion, it does not necessarily mean that these particular questions will get answered, especially because no information has been revealed just yet. There is some speculation that either Ada or Claire would make an appearance in the story expansion; however, it is purely speculation. What we do know is that the DLC will delve deeper into the world of Requiem and that it will drop really soon, most likely within the next several months.
