Resident Evil Requiem has been out for just over a couple of weeks now, and it’s fast becoming the best game of 2026 so far. The game has already reached several milestones, including reaching the second spot on Metacritic’s user score ranking and achieving the highest concurrent player count on Steam across all Resident Evil games.

Now, Capcom has reached another milestone to add to its belt. Capcom just reported that Resident Evil Requiem has sold over 6 million copies of the game in just over 2 weeks. This is a significant achievement for Capcom as the psychological horror game has become the fastest-selling installment in the Resident Evil series.

Resident Evil Requiem Sells 6 Million Copies

Several hours ago, it was reported by Capcom that Resident Evil Requiem has sold over 6 million copies of the game across all platforms. This is an amazing feat considering the game was released only a couple of weeks ago, and it is now the fastest-selling game within the Resident Evil series. To give a little bit of context, Resident Evil 7 has sold about 16.4 million copies, and Resident Evil Village, around 13.5 million copies between 2017 and 2021, respectively.

The fact that Resident Evil Requiem has sold 6 million copies of the game in just 2 weeks is a testament to how popular this installment was. Capcom revealed this information on their website today during a March press release signed by Haruhiro Tsujimoto, President and COO, confirming the latest Resident Evil entry had been a massive mainstream hit. Here’s the official statement on the Capcom website, announcing the incredible achievement:

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced that worldwide sales of Resident Evil Requiem, released on February 27, 2026, now exceed 6 million units, which is the fastest that a title in the series has reached this milestone.

Resident Evil Requiem is the latest installment in the Resident Evil series, which offers photorealistic visuals and a deep sense of immersion. Players can enjoy the elevated essence of the survival horror experience by the interplay between intense fear and exhilarating action, made possible by two protagonists. Going forward, Capcom plans to implement several measures, such as ongoing support and additional game content, so players can continue to enjoy the title longer.

In addition, the Resident Evil series will celebrate its 30th anniversary on March 22, 2026. Capcom is readying various plans for this anniversary to delight series fans, such as a collaboration between Universal Studios Japan and Resident Evil Requiem in 2026, and orchestral concerts in Japan, the US, and Europe.

Capcom remains firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all users by leveraging its industry leading game development capabilities in order to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences.

DLC and New Content

Now that most players have probably finished their playthroughs of Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom has also announced that they are working on development of a DLC, as well as additional bonus content for the game. The DLC is still in early development; however, Capcom has confirmed an expansion of the main story, which will delve deeper into the world of Requiem, the release of photo mode for the game, as well as a surprise coming this May, which is rumored to be a mini game.

The fact that Capcom was so quick to announce the DLC and additional content so soon after the game’s release means that Capcom has been working on the DLC for quite some time. It also means that Requiem did so well that a DLC will definitely make fans of the game happy. I myself cannot wait to see what the DLC has to offer, especially how the devs plan to expand the story of Resident Evil Requiem.
