We all know that, under the pharmaceutical cover, Umbrella is a bioweapon conglomerate selling monsters to militaries across the globe to fund a eugenics program that will one day create a new race of superhumans who love sunglasses: y’know, typical Resident Evil stuff. But have any of us stopped to think about the logistics of it all—how much does a buyer pay for something like Nemesis or even just a licker? And how much damage are Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Carlos Oliveira, and Jill Valentine doing as they tear through Raccoon City? Finally, Requiem gives us an answer.

This Resident Evil Catalog Is Killer Deals

Towards the end of the game, in the ARK laboratory beneath the ruins of Raccoon City, players can find a series of monitors displaying an Umbrella product catalog. Dated 2026, these show the current, up-to-date prices of various iconic monsters from throughout the series. A Tyrant, the model known as Mr. X, carries a price tag of one hundred and twenty million dollars.

That’s a hefty chunk of change for a single piece of walking, trench-coated destruction. Plant 43, the massive flora-based threat, comes in at a cool one hundred million. The licker, that agile and terrifying wall-crawler, will set a military back a mere fourteen million. Even the Cerberus, those horrifically transformed Dobermans, are listed at thirty million a pop. Can you imagine the line item on that invoice?

Jill Valentine’s Rampage Was A Hostile Takeover

You might have noticed that Nemesis is missing from the list, i.e., the STARS-obsessed stalker who just won’t take the hint. Well, he does appear in the catalog, but his price is simply listed as negotiable. That seems fitting for a bespoke bioweapon, doesn’t it? It really makes a person wonder about the bulk discount rates Umbrella might offer its preferred clients.

Spencer only knows how much Jill Valentine set Umbrella back when she tore a hole through its… flesh mound. Leon, after burning Plant 43 alive and turning Mr. X into paste, cost Umbrella at least two hundred and twenty million dollars, and that’s not even counting all the lickers and Cerberus he dispatched.

The product catalog describes the Tyrant as a humanoid bioweapon with exceptional combat capabilities. It explains that the unit can execute simple commands, such as tracking and eliminating targets, and comes with a coat as standard, for effective human disguise. It almost sounds like a reasonable business proposition until you remember it punches people’s hearts out of their chests.

Jokes aside, this is a neat file that fleshes out the mundane side of Umbrella, making the game world feel that much more lived in. It adds a layer of dark corporate reality to the horror. How many failed experiments and shredded balance sheets are represented by that price tag on a Cerberus? The file acts as a quiet Requiem for the countless lost souls who became products. It is a small memorial to the idea that Umbrella was, first and foremost, a business. This catalog serves as a chilling Requiem for the idea of corporate ethics.

What I’m especially excited for is when fans inevitably crunch the numbers and figure out exactly how much damage Leon, Claire, Carlos, and Jill did. If nothing else, I know I’ll be keeping track on my next playthrough. The sheer financial carnage they caused is a different kind of horror story. Their rampage is a violent Requiem for the company’s profits.

Every bullet fired, every monster felled, is a direct hit to the quarterly earnings report. It is a satisfying Requiem sung with shotguns and grenades. The game offers a sort of final Requiem for Raccoon City through this lens, not just as a tragedy, but as a catastrophic asset loss. Maybe the real horror wasn’t the monsters, but the bill.
