Equinox: Homecoming Patch v1.2.0 – New Horse Packs, QoL Improvements, and More

In case you’ve been missing out on Equinox: Homecoming, let me fill you in. This is more than just a horse game! It’s difficult to put it in a firm category, but it’s a live-service RPG with mystery, exploration, an engaging story, and horses. And the horses are beautiful. It has its flaws, but nothing is ever perfect, and this horse-loving girl can’t get enough.

Today, April 16, 2026, the developers released patch v1.2.0. It includes new horse packs, quality of life improvements, a new Crown Chase, and the obligatory bug fixes. Time to ride!

Two New Horse Packs

You’re probably drawn to Equinox: Homecoming for the horses. After all, that’s what the game is best at. New horses are added through “Horse Packs.” They can be purchased using in-game currency called Gold Alders. These can be earned in-game or purchased with real-world money. Horse breeds are cosmetic and don’t give any in-game advantage.

This update includes two new Horse Packs. Storm the Fighter is a Red Alderwood Friesian, and Domino the Free Spirit is a Chestnut Dutch Warmblood. When you purchase the Horse Pack, it includes the breed-specific pattern, mane, and tail colors. You also get a special quest!

New Cosmetics & Crown Chase Location

For those who enjoy matching equipment on their horse, you can now find dark brown, black, tan, and white Western bridles in the Equinox: Homecoming premium shop. There are also orange and green Western saddle pads.

The Crown Chase is a kind of player-versus-player mini-game that occurs periodically during the day. Players can join from anywhere and are teleported to the location. Meredith’s Farm has been added as a new location for the Crown Chase. The game will now take place every hour.

Quality of Life!

New stuff is great, but improvements to how the game works are great too. It’s always nice to see developers making changes that make gameplay friendlier for the players. Let’s run through the updates!

Quest Tracking Improvements

It’s always been a challenge to decide which quest to work on next because there was no way to tell where the quest was aside from using the navigation guide. Two great updates have fixed this issue, and these are welcome changes.

First, in the quest log, you can see the distance to each quest. But even better, quest markers on the map and mini map now show the locations of main quests, side quests, and tasks, as well as how far away they are. So you can easily see what’s closest, track that quest, and ride off to complete it. Love the efficiency!

Chat Display Settings

It’s easier to change the settings for the way chat displays now. The only way to change the chat window’s visibility was to press Enter, then Alt to cycle through the options. Now you can open the Options menu (Esc), then change it to transparent, visible, or hidden. You can also change the font size and toggle whether you see a message every time another player logs into the game.

Premium Shop Updates

With more cosmetics and horses coming to the premium shop, it’s nice to see some updates that make it easier to decide whether to spend your hard-won Alders on an item. Now you can preview items on your character or horse before making the purchase. Items in a bundle can also be previewed. Horses have updated details too, including an icon showing the color of their mane and details about their quest.

What Might Be Next for Equinox: Homecoming?

Let’s Play, Equinox: Homecoming Official Launch

The developers haven’t shared a roadmap for 2026, but there have been two updates since the game officially launched on March 5, 2026. They added more to the campaign and story, a spring event, and now this update with cosmetics, QoL, and more. It’s a good start, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. Not sure if it’s for you?
