007 First Light Upgrades Its License to Thrill With New Patch

Content for OO7: First Light that players can purchase alongside the James Bond game.

007 First Light just dropped its first major post-launch update, and honestly, it is about time because the game has been crying out for some fresh content. The new patch introduces missions, unlockable gear, and a whole bunch of fixes that players have been begging for since day one. Does the game finally feel like the complete package, or is this just the beginning of a long road to getting it right? I have been dipping back into it over the last few days, and the update has definitely breathed some new life into the experience.

007 First Light Gets A Shot In The Arm

The new TacSim content for 007 First Light adds two three-tier Escalation missions called The Workshop and Extraction Avenues, which focus on stealth and escape respectively. The Workshop forces you to rely on patience and precision, while Extraction Avenues throws you into chaotic getaway scenarios that test your ability to think on your feet.

007 First Light also gives players three new weapons, including the Stormberg 50’cal, the DRX-2 Machine Pistol, and the DRS-7 Silenced SMG, which should shake up the usual loadout choices. There is also a new outfit called Diamond in the Rough, which is a nice cosmetic touch for anyone who wants their Bond to look the part.

The unlock requirements tie these items to Clearance Levels 10 through 18, with each piece costing 3,000 Intel, so you will need to put in some work to earn them. From what I have played, 007 First Light feels more rewarding now, because the new missions actually give you a reason to jump back in and test your skills.

Bug Fixes Across All Platforms

The patch for 007 First Light addresses a laundry list of issues that have been plaguing players since launch, and honestly, it is a relief to see the devs taking feedback seriously. Vaulting and ledge traversal bugs have been fixed, which means no more accidentally falling to your death because Bond decided to ignore a grab prompt.

007 First Light also fixed gadget input timing that was causing players to waste resources during tense moments, which was incredibly frustrating in the heat of combat. On PlayStation, the ADS malfunction after accessing system menus has been resolved, while Xbox players no longer have to deal with controller reconnection failures or crashes during specific missions and cinematics.

The Epic Games Store version of 007 First Light had a nasty bug where offline mode locked story content, but that has been patched out as well. TacSim menus becoming unresponsive was another headache that seems to be fixed now, so the overall experience feels much smoother across the board.

Stability Improvements Make A Difference

The stability fixes for 007 First Light are particularly noticeable on Xbox Series S, where multiple crashes during boss fights, car cinematics, and extended play sessions have been addressed. There was also a specific crash tied to the Red Room Shotgun in TacSim, which has been squashed, so you can finally use that weapon without fear of your game suddenly closing.

007 First Light feels much more stable now, and the devs clearly put in the work to make sure the game runs properly on all platforms. From a personal standpoint, I appreciate the effort because nothing kills immersion faster than a sudden crash right in the middle of an intense mission. 007 First Light still has some rough spots, but the update is a step in the right direction. If the developers keep this momentum going, 007 First Light could become the James Bond game fans have been waiting for.

Is The Update Worth Coming Back For

If you bounced off 007 First Light at launch because of the bugs and lack of content, this update is worth checking out. The new missions add some variety, the weapons feel distinct, and the stability improvements make the whole experience way less frustrating. That said, 007 First Light is still a work in progress, and the game needs more content to really feel like a full package.

The developers seem committed to supporting 007 First Light, and the roadmap ahead looks promising based on what they have delivered so far. From what I have seen, 007 First Light is slowly becoming the game it was always meant to be. If you are a James Bond fan or just someone who enjoys a solid stealth action game, now is a good time to give 007 First Light another shot.
