LCK Cup 2026 Final Week and Tournament Recap: Gen.G Esports Reign Supreme

LCK - League of Legends Champions Korea in LoL Esports

At the start of the LCK Cup, many expected Gen.G Esports to win the tournament. However, no one was expecting this level of dominance. You can attribute part of their success to Hanwha Life Esports and T1 struggling. T1 looked like they could contest, but lost to FearX and Dplus KIA. The finals weekend concluded in disappointment for viewers as both series ended 3-0.

Only two series took place in the final week of the LCK Cup Playoffs. For both series, we predicted 3-1 scorelines. However, they ended 3-0. Fortunately, we predicted the correct teams for both matches.

FearX 3-0 Dplus KIA

Total Apex Prediction: BFX 3-1

FearX was in control of the series from start to finish. They had the better macro throughout, making it nearly impossible for Dplus KIA to respond. DK could not deliver the performance that they had in the final three games against T1 in the Lower Bracket Final.

Gen.G Esports 3-0 FearX

Total Apex Prediction: Gen.G 3-1

The second series of the weekend went nearly identically to the first. Instead, Gen.G Esports emerged victorious. BFX had no chance as they fell in three successive games. Gen.G proved that they are the best team in the LCK Cup.

Rumble Narrowly Ahead for Most Banned

Jayce surged ahead early in the LCK Cup in terms of bans. The buffs to him during the off-season made him a dominant jungler. However, halfway through, nerfs hit the champion, and he fell off the ban list. Rumble, who has been a dominant champion for years, rose to lead. Many teams did not allow the champion through the ban phase during the series. Many teams felt that the alternative would result in a significant deficit. Some teams would allow the Rumble pick to get him out of the way early in a best-of-five series.

Ryze and Yunara Share Most Picked

The inclusion of Actualizer brought Ryze to the fore this year. He became a late-game menace, being able to take down enemy carries in seconds. He also allowed teams to make plays around the map, thanks to his wave clear and ultimate ability. Yunara was the premier late-game AD carry for teams in the LCK Cup. If she was not on the ban list in games, teams were quick to take her as the first pick in the draft.
