LCK Cup 2026 Playoffs Match Preview: Can BFX Defy The Favorites in the Grand Final?

LCK - League of Legends Champions Korea in LoL Esports

FearX has insurmountable odds before them in the LCK Cup tomorrow. So far, no team has defeated Gen.G Esports in a series. Only BFX and Dplus KIA have managed to win one game against them. Having beaten BFX last week, no one expects Gen.G to falter in the Grand Final. BFX must find a weakness that no team has found.

Recent LCK Cup Match History

Gen.G and BFX have battled twice during the LCK Cup. Once, in the Group Battle, and the second time in the Upper Bracket Final. Gen.G won both series, 2-0 and 3-1, respectively. In both series, BFX tested Gen.G, but they faltered in the clutch moments.

Has FearX Become Clutch?

BFX had chances to beat Gen.G during the recent Upper Bracket Final. However, in the clutch moments, Gen.G emerged victorious. Chovy and Kiin, especially, managed to win fights despite being at a player disadvantage. Every player on the Gen.G roster has the potential to clutch fights at any given time. It might not be Chovy and Kiin that produce those moments tomorrow. Ruler, Canyon, or Duro could be the ones to carry Gen.G over the line in vital moments.

FearX Fired on All Cylinders

Every player on the BFX roster was firing on all cylinders during their series against Dplus KIA. The only player who had moments of weakness was VicLa. At times, he got overeager, which led to DK earning some gold. DK was unable to translate that into a comeback of any kind. Against a team like Gen.G, those mistakes can not happen.

Even if they are behind a significant amount of gold, giving them a route back could result in a loss. Domestic Chovy is a terrifying prospect, and VicLa will need to be at his best to challenge him. We have seen Chovy struggle before in the LCK. However, he has been at his best during the LCK Cup so far.

The Botlane Battle

The further we go into the playoffs, the more important the bot lane becomes. In their previous meeting, Ruler and Duro managed to keep Diable and Kellin quiet. Both teams will need to focus on the bot lane once again. If Gen.G can keep them quiet again, there is a good chance that they will win again. However, if BFX, especially Raptor, can make a difference, we could see an upset. There have been many upsets so far in the LCK Cup, but Gen.G has not fallen victim to an upset yet.

Gen.G Esports Versus FearX Prediction

Gen.G Esports 3-1 FearX

Even with FearX’s victory over Dplus KIA, there isn’t enough to give them the edge. Gen.G is by far the best team in the LCK at the moment. The only teams that have matched up to them in recent times are Hanwha Life Esports, T1, and KT Rolster. The latter required Chovy and Canyon to have their worst Domestic performances. BFX will need something similar to happen if they want to beat Gen.G. Both teams have nearly identical playstyles, and winning against Gen.G by playing their own game is nearly impossible.

A Crowning Victory

A victory for Gen.G Esports will be a crowning moment to a dominant LCK Cup performance. Anything short of that is a failure for this famed organisation. For FearX, they have nothing to lose. If they cannot defeat Gen.G, no one will be disappointed with the result. However, if they manage to win, it could be the start of a successful run for the dark horses. Either way, both teams will represent Korea at First Stand next month.
