Gabe Brown divorce: Wife’s 7-year abuse claims revealed
“I worry for my children’s safety, and well-being every day,” Raquell Brown wrote in a court declaration filed Sept. 22, part of the Gabe Brown divorce case she opened against the “Alaskan Bush People” star. In the filing, she accuses her estranged husband of emotional, mental, financial and physical abuse.
The Gabe Brown divorce allegations, first detailed by Us Weekly on Sept. 30, have not been tested in court. Us Weekly said it reached out to Gabe Brown, 36, and to Raquell’s attorney for comment. He had not responded publicly as of Thursday, Oct. 1.
What Raquell Brown alleges in her declaration
Raquell wrote that the emotional and mental abuse started within the first four months of the relationship. The two met through Gabe’s sister Rain Brown on social media in December 2017 and married in January 2019. Raquell said she felt “forced into the marriage” and signed the certificate reluctantly.
She also claimed she and her two children from an earlier relationship were made to live in a travel trailer without electricity or running water on the Brown family’s land, because Gabe wanted to stay close to his relatives. She also alleged he pushed her to cut off friends and family so that private matters would not “get out” because the family was famous.
One alleged 2018 incident took place on the drive to Noah Brown’s wedding in Idaho. Raquell wrote that Rain, now 23, “screamed in my face” while Gabe leaned forward from the back seat and told her to “respond to my sister or he would break up with me.”
Claims grew after Billy Brown’s death
According to the filing, things worsened after family patriarch Billy Brown died in February 2021. Raquell alleged that Gabe began having “night terrors” and would “punch, kick and choke” her in his sleep.
She said that after the Discovery series went on hiatus in 2022 and Gabe took a new job, he would “often forget us at home without water or food.” Referring to the children, she wrote, “He would hit them and yell in their faces.”
Raquell said she filed for a restraining order in April 2023, but it was dismissed. The couple reconciled in March 2024, Us Weekly reported, but she claimed the home stayed tense. During arguments, she alleged, Gabe would call a “roll call” and make everyone line up “as if we were in the military,” and no one could speak or leave until he dismissed them.
Support requests in the Gabe Brown divorce
In her Gabe Brown divorce petition, Raquell says the marriage is “irretrievably broken,” TMZ reported on Sept. 29. The pair has lived apart since April, with Raquell in Minnesota and Gabe in Washington state. They share three children, born in 2019, 2021 and 2025.
Per TMZ, she wants child support, medical support and help with day care, long-distance travel and school costs, including future college or trade school. She also reserved the right to seek temporary and permanent spousal support, asked Gabe to cover her legal fees and submitted a proposed parenting plan. The filing lists no real estate to divide.
The Gabe Brown divorce follows a split that TMZ first reported on July 31. Gabe appeared on “Alaskan Bush People,” which followed the Brown family’s off-grid life in Alaska and later Washington, from its 2014 debut until the 2022 hiatus.
