Sandfall Interactive announced last night that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has a free DLC update out now. This announcement came after Expedition 33 won Game of the Year at the 2025 Game Awards. Including Game of the Year, Expedition 33 won nine out of 11 categories the game was nominated for. The DLC was originally announced in October but did not have a set release date.

Expedition 33 DLC

The Expedition 33 DLC, titled Verso’s Drafts, was also announced in their Thank You Update Trailer. The DLC has quality of life improvements, more text and UI localizations into languages such as Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Thai, Vietnamese, Russian and Indonesian, totaling 19 supporting languages. The DLC adds a Photo Mode to the game, as well as new bosses in the Endless Tower.

The Expedition 33 DLC also has new music by Lorien Testard, who won Best Score and Music at The Game Awards. The DLC also takes the characters to a whimsical adventure connected to a young Verso.

Expedition 33 won multiple awards, including: Best Independent Game; Best Performance (Jennifer English as Maelle); Best Art Direction; Best Debut Indie Game; Best Score and Music; Best RPG; Best Narrative; Best Game Direction; and Game of the Year.

Guillame Broche, Sandfall Interactive’s creative director, said that the game’s update was a “thank you” to fans for their support, and he repeated that message last night, as he accepted the Game of the Year award on behalf of the beret-clad team in the audience.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 came out on April 24, 2025 for PlayStation, Xbox X|S and PC. IGN rated the game a 9/10, stating that the game “paints itself into the pantheon of great RPGs with a brilliant combat system and a gripping, harrowing story.”

The game, developed by Sandfall Interactive and published by Kepler Interactive, currently has Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam. One Steam user recommended the game, writing, “This is one of those games where art and gaming come together to form something more. A tragedy play mixed with action RPG in this turn-based combat game, where you explore a fantastic imaginary world full of stunning visuals, creative enemies, a deep and touching story coupled with mechanics that evolve throughout the gameplay.”
