Netflix released the first official poster for “Swapped,” featuring Michael B. Jordan, and released the premiere date. In the latest movie poster, Jordan is shirtless, well, his character is anyway, a small woodland creature, Ollie. “Swapped” is an animated comedy set to be released on Netflix on May 1. Starring alongside Jordan in the movie are Juno Temple, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Lolly Adefope, Ambika Mod, and Justina Machado.

Wild Body Swap Adventure Begins

The movie “Freaky Friday” is a storyline that has been remade multiple times, but not like “Swapped.” “Swapped,” formally named “Pookoo,” will take movie watchers on a “Freaky Friday” adventure, but from the eyes of wild animals. On the movie poster released earlier this month, the “Sinner” star is a small forest animal, resembling a cross between a squirrel and a chipmunk. At the same time, Temple’s character, Ivy, a large green bird, hovers over him. The animals’ focus is on a glowing, light-purple orb, which is probably the magical source that will swap the two animals.

Additional movie frames from “Swapped” give you a sneak peek at a colorful adventure as the two foes journey together to survive and make friends with other animals along the way.

According to the director Nathan Greno in an interview with Netflix, Greno describes the movies as,

“Swapped is a body-swap movie unlike anything audiences have seen before. In this world, the creatures of the valley exist on a spectrum between plant and animal, creating a wild ecosystem.” At the center of the film is the smallest creature in the valley, voiced by Michael B. Jordan, who suddenly finds himself swapped into a completely different body and thrust into a massive, unpredictable world that turns his entire life upside down and forces him to experience life from a completely different perspective.”

“Swapped” Promo Campaign Feels Quiet

Jordan is still riding the success train from “Sinners,” but the promo tour for his next movie is lacking. There is no recent promo or post on Jordan’s Instagram page dedicated to the movie. Netflix has slowly revealed details about the movie, but between the name change, the cast reveal, and the logline, the buzz is low, especially given a big name like Jordan attached.

Once the trailer is released, it should help build anticipation for the movie. The movie director Nathan Greno, who worked on Disney’s “Tangled,” is helping spread the word about the new Netflix animated movie.

In another statement with Netflix, Greno describes how the storyline, character dynamics, and the talent of the voice actors will draw viewers’ attention. Greno explains that,

“Swapped is an unpredictable, emotional ride — full of humor, spectacle, and heart. We drew from live-action nature documentaries, exploring the complexity of a wild ecosystem to capture something that feels vibrant and deeply human.”

He continues, “Jordan and Temple deliver ‘warmth and authenticity’ to the film. Every moment between them feels alive — funny one second, deeply moving the next. Their chemistry lifts the story and gives Swapped its wings.”

Oscar Buzz Surrounds “Sinners” Cast

“Swapped” is Jordan’s next project after the movie “Sinners.” The success of the Ryan Coogler film has broken multiple movie records, and the award season is not over yet. This Sunday, March 15, breaking another record, the movie is nominated for 16 Academy Awards, including Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Song, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor and Actress.

If the cast wins, it will be Jordan, Delroy Lindo, and Coogler’s first Oscar win despite their long-running success in the film industry.

Jordan’s Evolution Before “Swapped”

Watch “Swapped” on May 1 on Netflix and see how “The Wire” actor can work his charm behind the voice of a woodland creature. Before the animated movie is released, catch up on Jordan’s movie catalog to watch Jordan’s growth as an actor from a teen to a Marvel villain to the twin brothers Stack and Smoke.
