Newest “Masters of the Universe (2026)” Trailer Marks He-Man’s Return to Eternia for the Upcoming Reboot
It’s time to return to Eternia on June 5, 2026.
Return seems to be the central theme for He-Man in Amazon MGM’s upcoming “Masters of the Universe” movie. A return home for the titular character, a return to the big screen since its 1987 adaptation, featuring Dolph Lundgren, and a return to the hearts of many fans since the franchise was first introduced back in the 1980s.
Following the release of several trailers since the movie’s announcement, MGM Studios dropped its international trailer recently, showcasing new footage that gives a deeper look into Eternia, home of Prince Adam Glenn a.k.a. He-Man and Castle Grayskull, where his power is drawn from.
The 2026 movie will be based on the Mattel toy line, which showcases conflicts between Eternia’s hero, He-Man, played by Nicholas Galitzine, and his arch-nemesis, Skeletor, played by Jared Leto.
What’s New for He-Man in the latest “Masters of the Universe” Trailer
The first of the two new bits of footage shown off in the trailer focuses on Adam Glenn’s life while stranded on Earth. The trailer confirms that this movie will be a twist on the original He-Man mythos, with Adam, a ten-year-old boy, separated from his iconic weapon, the magical Power Sword, as he grows up on Earth. Originally, Adam was always a resident of Eternia, but his mother was the classic fish-out-of-water character, an astronaut who crash-landed on Eternia.
Haunted by the memories of losing his home, we see Adam’s work life on Earth as an adult who desperately searches for the Power Sword. While most of the footage in that part is played off as comedic relief, it does establish the emotional weight for the hero, who has been longing to return to his homeland for almost two decades.
That emotional weight plays out more in the second half of the trailer as the footage expands on a key scene with He-Man in prison, reuniting with many of the people he knew as a child. The reunion is a somber one, marked by the damage Skeletor has wrought upon the people of Eternia.
The Newest He-Man Rendition Will be Quite Different than the Original

Nicholas Galitzine, the lead actor in the upcoming movie, was quite vocal when comparing their version of the He-Man franchise to past takes during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. While acknowledging how the more light-hearted, campier tone of the animated original, Galitzine made sure to note that their upcoming movie will have a distinct tone of its own.
“Look, what I will say is our version is quite different from the original animation, which we all agree was camp within its own right and worked so well for the time. But there’s been a couple of iterations, obviously, since there was the Revelation version of Master of the Universe, and the comics themselves. And we’re very much treating our script as a Bible, you know. But it’s kind of amazing to hear what this show meant to a lot of people. It was really formative for a lot of people, so it’s exciting to do something that will have a nostalgia element as well as hopefully attract a bunch of new fans.”
With the trailer confirming the film’s more grounded take with the opening being set in a contemporary setting, it’s easy for fans to see what Galitzine is coming from. Instead of He-Man being introduced right away as a larger-than-life figure, similar to Thor, he will be a character the audience can learn alongside as Adam becomes the Master of the Universe we are familiar with.
No matter the era they started with, fans are excited for the upcoming He-Man movie to hit the big screen on June 5, 2026.
