‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ Final Trailer – Obscure Characters and Donald Glover as Yoshi
The final trailer for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” is here. Mario’s highly anticipated second animated movie takes inspiration from the beloved Super Mario Galaxy games, along with references to other Mario games sprinkled in. The movie opens on April 1st, and in the meantime, fans can pick apart the trailer for Easter eggs. They can also look forward to hearing Donald Glover as the adorable green dinosaur, Yoshi.
“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” Nintendo Direct
The latest Nintendo Direct unveiled the final trailer for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” Chris Pratt, who voices Mario, and Charlie Day, who voices Luigi, introduced the trailer. Day stated, “This feels like the right moment to share what’s next with the Mario brothers.” “Emphasis on brothers,” said Pratt. “This time, they’re side by side for the whole adventure.” Fans will remember how in 2023’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” Luigi was kidnapped by Bowser early on and spent most of the movie in his dungeon. It will be fun to see Luigi contribute more to the story this time around.
The trailer begins with shooting stars flying over the Mushroom Kingdom, dropping Star Bits on the citizens. Fans of the Super Mario Galaxy games will be familiar with Star Bits and how you can collect them in the games. Everything seems so magical – until a giant spaceship lowers and lifts Princess Peach’s palace into space. So who is piloting the spaceship? It turns out to be Bowser Jr., who is out to rescue his shrunken father and take over the Mushroom Kingdom.
After Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi fail to protect the palace from Bowser Jr., we see a full-sized Bowser announce his return to his minions. Bowser Jr. declares that “The Bowser name shall be feared once more!” Peach, Toad, and a Luma set out after the Bowsers, and we get a surprise appearance of King Wart, the frog king from the American version Super Mario Bros. 2. We get some shots of Princess Rosalina engaged in a magical battle, along with a shot of Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi zooming through space. The trailer ends with a surprising appearance by Lumalee, the Luma with a death wish from the first movie.
New Voices Announced
After the trailer, the Direct had some new voice actors to announce. A previous Nintendo Direct already announced Brie Larson, best known as Captain Marvel from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie will voice Bowser Jr. However, Chris Meledandri, the CEO of Illumination, had some more voices to announce at the most recent Direct.
First of all, he stated that Luis Guzman will be voicing Wart. He also said that Issa Rae will be voicing the Honey Queen, a giant bee character from the Super Mario Galaxy games. He also addressed the questions about Yoshi. “Since he appeared in our recent trailer,” he said, “many of you have wondered who’s voicing the character.”
He said that an “incredibly talented actor, who also happens to be a Nintendo superfan” will be voicing Yoshi, before announcing that it will be Donald Glover, who has previously lent his voice to other animated projects such as “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and the 2019 remake of “The Lion King.” He also gave a spectacular performance as Lando Calrissian in “Solo: a Star Wars Story,” meaning that it should be fun to hear him as Yoshi.
We Can’t Wait for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie”!
It looks like “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” will be full of all the fun, charm, and fanservice that made “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” so great. Nintendo fans have a lot to look forward to with this movie. “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” comes to theaters on April 1st, meaning that you’ve got enough time to play the Galaxy games on your Switch or Switch 2 in preparation. You can also play Super Mario Bros. 2 on Nintendo Switch Online and see Wart.
