First Stand 2026 LYON Preview: An Inspired International Qualification
LYON struggled in the LTA North last year. For 2026, they brought in the high-profile signings of Inspired and Berserker. Even with those additions, no one expected them to qualify for First Stand. They began the year with disappointing results. However, as the playoffs continued, LYON’s performances improved. They surprised everyone by defeating Cloud9 3-1 in the Grand Final and qualified for First Stand. Can Inspired carry another team at an international?
LYON First Stand Roster

- Niship “Dhokla” Doshi – American Top Laner
- Kacper “Inspired” SÅ‚oma – Polish Jungler
- Kang “Saint” Seong-in – Korean Mid Laner
- Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol – Korean Bot Laner
- Jonah “Isles” Rosario – Australian Support
LYON replaced everyone on their roster, except Saint. They initially had Frankie “Zamundo” Lin as their toplaner for 2026. For a second consecutive year, the Canadian Top Laner was unable to secure a visa. As a result, LYON replaced him with former 100Thieves Top Laner, Dhokla.
North America’s Final Hope
FlyQuest faltered in the World Championship last year. That left the North American fans reeling. With that roster dissolving, hopes for North American fans were low. In their first taste of an international LCS, teams disappointed their fans. Both Cloud9 and Team Sentinels lost to the CBLOL third seed, FURIA. That has left fans wondering if LCS is the worst region. The expectations are at an all-time low. LYON must rectify the fans’ concerns.
They have a perfect opportunity in their first series. They play against LOUD, the first seed from CBLOL. With the experience of Dhokla, Inspired, and Bersker on the roster, LYON has the opportunity to give their fans hope. North America will have more chances to make their fans happy. However, a disappointing First Stand performance might push fans away. They might not have the chance to redeem themselves after the tournament.
LYON’s Slow Playstyle
Of all the teams at First Stand, LYON fights the least early on in the game. They often prefer to play scaling drafts and use that scaling to win in the latter stages. They are willing to give up early Drakes when they feel fights do not suit them. It is a strategy that can work, given the strength of scaling compositions. However, it has numerous risks. One or two mistakes in the pivotal Drake fights could result in them losing outright. Allowing the opponent to be on Drake soul point forces them to fight every Drake from that point onwards.
In game one against Team Sentinels in the Lower Bracket Final, LYON stormed to an early lead. That came as a result of Berserker and Isles winning the 2v2 and Inspired ganking to get Saint ahead. Despite the lead, LYON gave over the second Drake. After a couple of mistakes in further Drake fights, Team Sentinels had Ocean Soul. LYON still won the game, but a team with a significant gold lead should never be giving over Soul. Yes, they had the scaling composition, but against better teams at First Stand, they will not be so lucky.
Prediction
LYON is an unpredictable team. They have the potential to do damage with Dhokla, Inspired, and Berserker on the roster. However, Berserker has never had outstanding international performances. Saint and Isles are unproven on the international stage. Dhokla and Inspired might not be enough to carry them over the line. They might defeat LOUD, but Gen.G Esports and JD Gaming could be a step too far. A semi-final berth is above expectations for this team.
LYON’s Path to Inspiration

LYON will play their first series against LOUD. A victory in that series will see them play against the winner of Gen.G Esports and JD Gaming. Losing to LOUD will put them in an elimination match against the aforementioned teams. Two wins in the group will earn qualification to the Knockout Stage. Two losses will eliminate them from the competition. Should they qualify, they will face one of the teams from Group A. The team they play will depend on the position in the group.
