Dash Crofts From Texas to Top Charts
The Texas native was born August 14, 1940, in Cisco, Texas, as Darrell George Crofts. Growing up in Texas, he met the other half of the rock duo, Jim Seals, as a teenager. Crofts and Seals hit the road to California and joined the rock and roll band The Champs.
In 1969, the pair struck gold when they became a duo, forming Seals and Crofts. In 1972, with the album and song of the same title, “Summer Breeze,” the song reached Billboard’s top 10 on the Hot 100 chart.
