From starring in “Moesha” to being Disney’s first African American princess, the Grammy-winning singer and actress’s signature braids helped set the tone and trends in the 90’s and early 2000’s. The “Boy Is Mine” singer already has several Barbie Dolls honoring her, and now it’s time she receives her flowers.

According to the official Hollywood Walk of Fame website, Norwood’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m on Monday, March 30, at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Eastown. If you can’t make the star ceremony in person, you can watch the livestream online at www.walkoffame.com

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez explains why the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” actor deserves a Hollywood star with the following quote on the Office Walk of Fame website:

“Brandy has captivated audiences for decades with a voice and artistry that helped shape modern R&B and inspire generations of performers. Honoring her with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a celebration of not only her extraordinary music career, but also her lasting impact on television, film, and popular culture. We are proud to welcome Brandy to this iconic sidewalk that celebrates the very best of entertainment.”

Norwood’s star power shone the brightest in the 90’s and early 2000s. The actor first became a household name in the early 90’s, appearing as the main character’s daughter in the 1993 TV series “Thea”. She followed with the success of her debut album, Brandy, in 1994. The album introduced R&B fans to “The Vocal Bible,” with songs like “I Wanna Be Down” and “Baby” showcasing her vocal control and raspy tone.

Her reign continued with the release of “Sittin Up in My Room” for the movie “Waiting to Exhale” in 1995 before landing the leading role in “Moesha.” From 1996 to the early 2000’s, Norwood was everywhere, starring in multiple films, climbing the music charts, in a love triangle, and fighting backstage at awards shows. In 1997, she wore the crown as Disney’s first African American princess in the musical “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” a role she later reprised in “Descendants: The Rise of Red” in 2024.

She has had a consistent career in film, TV, and on Broadway, starring in the musical “Chicago” in 2015. For her singing career, in 1998, Norwood released her second album, Never Say Never, her highest-selling album to date, reaching diamond status. In 1999, Norwood received her first Grammy for the song “The Boy Is Mine,” featuring Monica, cementing her status as an R&B icon. The single spent 13 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
