Fans of the “Classroom of the Elite” were met with exciting news upon the finale of Season Four, with the reveal that the hit anime will be continuing for a fifth season.

The season premiered on April 1, 2026, with a 90-minute special that incorporated the first four episodes before continuing its weekly run. It ran from April 1 to June 24, concluding with 16 episodes and setting up the next stage for the anime’s continuation.

With Season Four bolstering the highest episode count for the series, the show’s popularity continues to grow following the recent announcement. Season Five’s release date has not been announced, but early speculation has it premiering sometime during 2028.

How will season five push the story forward?

While it is safe to assume that Season Five will continue to cover the next portion of Kiyotaka Ayanokoji’s second year as a student, Season Four, from top to bottom, was a different season that introduced various new elements that can guide the show going forward.

Perhaps the most promising among those elements was the strong inclusion not only of the new first-year characters but also of their collective interest in Ayanokoji. Between discovering the identity of the other White Room student, gaining a new loyal ally, and making several new enemies, the first-year students used the newest season to make their presence known throughout multiple aspects of Ayanokoji’s life.

Yet the most interesting development was the lack of overall involvement by his Class-D companions. While seeing Ayanokoji handle matters on his own through his superior intellect and physical abilities is nothing new for the show, the subtle twist was that when his back was pressed to the wall, he relied not on his class but on partnerships with other second-year classes or new first-year allies. Throughout the season, Ayanokoji was seen making multiple deals with leaders of other classes to resolve his issues, establishing the idea that he cannot overcome every obstacle on his own.

Like several popular anime that debuted in the 2010s, such as “Re-Zero” and “The Devil is a Part-Timer!”, no word or indication for the continuation of “Classroom of the Elite” was shared upon the Season One finale. For five years, fans of the series had to seek out the popular light novels written by Shogo Kinugasa in order to know what would happen next in the story. That wait came to an end in 2022 with the release of Season Two.

Since then, “Classroom of the Elite” has released a new season every other year.

What was once considered a hidden gem within the anime community close to a decade ago has now become one of the more popular titles on the market, especially among fans of characters known for their intellect and genius.

Yet Season Four raised the bar for the show even higher by gifting fans multiple fluid action sequences that put the fight scenes in action anime to shame (yes, we are looking at you, “One Punch Man” Season Three).
