Daily Devotional Thoughtful Thursday | July 2, 2026

In daily devotional, someone is reading the Bible intently.

It’s Thursday, and time for your daily devotional. In 1 Corinthians 12:24, Paul speaks of our “uncomely” parts receiving more attention than the “comely parts” that are seen. For instance, you’d take care of your heart rather than buy skin cream. God designed your body with the parts it needs to function properly. In today’s daily devotional, the central part of you is unseen or hidden inside.

Your Mind Must be Renewed

Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Scientists believe your mind is housed in your brain but also in distribution points throughout your body. It’s integral to your life, affecting your mental, emotional, and physical states. It informs your beliefs and actions. That’s why your mind must be renewed. An unrenewed mind doesn’t put God first. It’s not aligned with the word of God. It often entertains wrong thoughts. In today’s daily devotional, just as you take care of your physical body, you should be as careful with your thoughts.

God is a Spirit

“As he thinketh in his heart,” refers to the thoughts of your cognitive realm. No one knows how you think except you and God, who knows your thoughts afar off. God is a spirit, and he communicates with you in the spiritual realm, or your heart.  God doesn’t control your thoughts, but the enemy will try to plant wrong thoughts to get you to act upon them.

God has given you free will; therefore, you make your own choices. However, God uses various means to reveal His truth. In your daily devotional, when you reject evil thoughts and embrace true, honest, and just thoughts, you walk in alignment with God’s word.

Accountable for Your Thoughts

Whatever consumes your thoughts marks who you are. You can’t be a righteous person with evil thoughts, or an evil person who thinks righteously.  You’re accountable for your thoughts. When Jesus returned to His hometown, He was met with unbelief that hindered miracles and healing. It doesn’t matter if you show up to receive; unbelief puts receiving from God outside your reach.

Jesus taught that adultery doesn’t begin with the physical act, but in the thought life. When you think evil, you’ve already opened the door. In this daily devotional, there’s a saying: “Where the mind goes, the body follows.” To avoid sin, cut it off at the root by rejecting evil thoughts.

Be Strong in the Lord

As a believer, you’re to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. You must put on the armor of God that protects you from the enemy’s attacks. God’s armor is flawless and impenetrable. However, if you leave parts off, the enemy will take advantage of what’s uncovered. In Acts 5, Ananias and Sapphira didn’t put on the belt of truth. They listened to the enemy and agreed to a scheme that involved lying about the money they received from selling their land.

Because they lied to the Holy Ghost, not just the apostles, they died instantly and were buried on the spot. In your daily devotional, God’s armor protects your whole body, comely parts and all, from the fiery darts of the enemy.

Your Thoughts Determine Who You Are

In Thursday’s daily devotional, evil actions begin with wrong thoughts. Often before the action takes place, the thoughts have been churning for a while. When this happens, one justifies their behavior, and it’s easier to carry it out. In today’s daily devotional, your thoughts determine who you are. They’re hidden from view, but revealed by your actions.
