Daily Devotional Tuesday Thoughts| June 9, 2026
It’s Tuesday, and time for your daily devotional. Prayer is such an essential part of a believer’s life. It’s been said, “No prayer, no power; little prayer, little power; and much prayer, much power.” Jesus had a lot to say about prayer. Before His departure, He instructed His disciples to ask the Father in His name. In today’s daily devotional, prayer connects you to the Father.
Jesus Shows You the Father
After admonishing His disciples to pray in Jesus’ name, Jesus tells them, in John 16:25, that He’s been speaking to them in proverbs, but the time is coming when He’ll no longer speak in proverbs. Then He makes this promise: “I shall shew you plainly of the Father.” Jesus knows they don’t have the spiritual maturity yet to handle the deep things of God. They’re babes in Christ, whose questions show their lack of understanding.
For instance, before Jesus’ ascension, they ask, “Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” But Jesus promises the day will come when He’ll speak to them in plain language, for they’ll be spiritually mature. In your daily devotional, the Holy Spirit abides in you, and He teaches you all things.
Led By the Holy Spirit
In verse 26, Jesus says that the day is coming when they’ll pray to the Father directly, without depending on His prayers on their behalf. When a child is born, it can do nothing of its own; it’s dependent upon its parents for everything. However, as it matures, it’s expected to be more independent.
In the same manner, the disciples are childlike, leaning on Jesus for direction and instruction. Because they lack spiritual discernment, they’re like babies who need Christ’s spiritual enlightenment. In this daily devotional, declare that you are now mature in Christ and led by the Holy Spirit.
Everlasting Love and Acceptance

In verse 27, Jesus declares that God loves the disciples because of their love and faithfulness to Christ, believing He is the Son of God: “For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.” They had answered Jesus’ call: “Follow me.” They had traveled and lodged with Jesus during His earthly ministry. They ate meals together, labored together, attended synagogues, and faced crowds together.
Jesus’ assurance that the Father loves them is encouragement to draw closer to God in prayer, knowing that He desires a relationship with them. He longs to commune with those who love His Son, inviting them to draw near. In today’s daily devotional, God loves you and invites you into a fellowship offering everlasting love and acceptance.
Sent by the Father
In verse 28, Jesus proclaims, “I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.” The disciples reply that He has spoken this clearly and not in proverbs. In your daily devotional, commit to Christ, like the disciples, being fully assured that His record is true and that the Father sent Him.
Connect With the Father Through Prayer
In Tuesday’s daily devotional, knowing God loves you with an everlasting love should intensify your prayer life and draw you closer to Him. There’s no need to feel intimidated or fearful. You are His, and you are loved. In today’s devotional, you can connect with the Father through prayer and a shared love for Jesus.
