Happy Friday! It’s time for your daily devotional. In Ephesians 3, Paul prays for believers in Ephesus and, inevitably, throughout time as “the prisoner of Jesus Christ.” He speaks of the revelation God gave him that Gentiles are inheritors, members, and partakers of the “unsearchable riches of Christ.” In today’s devotional, Jesus Christ is your access to God’s mysteries.
Mystery From the Beginning
The truth that the Gentiles were accepted by God and brought into the family of faith was something the Jews didn’t foresee. Paul says this mystery “from the beginning of the world” was hidden in God. The Lord revealed it to Paul, and He began preaching the gospel to the Gentiles. He encourages them to have boldness and confidence in their God-given faith. In your daily devotional, God reveals His manifold wisdom to the church, which He predestined through Christ.
The Family of God
Paul begins his prayer in verse 14: “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” He prays to the Father just as Jesus taught His disciples. He shows the inclusivity of believers with “Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jesus began the Lord’s prayer with “Our Father, which art in heaven.”
In God, “the whole family in heaven and earth is named.” If you’re redeemed by Christ, you’re among the sons of God and part of God’s family of believers here on earth and in heaven. In this daily devotional, rejoice that you’re part of God’s family and have received redemption through Christ’s blood.
Riches of His Glory
Paul makes this request in verse 16: “That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.” Paul requests that, out of the richness of God’s glory, He would strengthen their inner man by His might. In your daily devotional, receive God’s strength today; He’s made it available to you.
Grounded in Love

In verse 17, Paul petitions, “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love.” Paul prays that Christ abide in hearts filled with faith grounded in love. As a believer, you must walk by faith, live in faith, and speak faith. You can’t please God without faith, which works by love. In this daily devotional, love must motivate your faith.
Fullness of God
He continues in verse 18: “May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height.” There are dimensions of God you won’t fully grasp, yet you’re invited to know Him. Verse 19 says, “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”
The love of Christ is beyond human reasoning. You can only understand it by the Spirit as the Holy Ghost enlightens your understanding. All of God is accessed through your relationship with Christ. In your daily devotional, the fullness of God is Him abiding in you.
God Gives You Access
In Friday’s daily devotional, Paul begins closing his prayer with, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” God can do more than you can imagine when you walk by faith. His power is in you. In verse 21, God gets glory in the church, not just today, but throughout the ages, through Jesus Christ, who gives you access.
