It’s Wednesday, and time for your daily devotional. Paul was a man of faith and prayer, and he prayed for the churches he established. He wanted believers to walk in the fullness of God’s power. Being saved by grace through faith isn’t just a catchphrase. In today’s daily devotional, life in Christ is incomparable to anything else.
Blessings Come From God
Paul begins his Ephesian letter by speaking of spiritual blessings like being chosen, predestined, accepted, and redeemed. These blessings are from God alone. Paul wants believers to know what’s theirs in Christ. Nothing in the earthly realm is close. In your daily devotional, the blessings of God aren’t just to read about; they’re for you to receive and walk in.
Wisdom and Revelation
In verse 16, Paul gives thanks for the Ephesian believers and prays for them unceasingly: “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.” Wisdom and revelation are from God. The wisdom of the world can’t save or transform your life in holiness. In this daily devotional, let the Holy Spirit lead you into all truth and understanding.
Eyes of Your Understanding

Paul continues in verse 18: “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.” You have spiritual eyes to be enlightened in the things of God. He doesn’t leave His children in the dark. Some believe spiritual things are a mystery that no one can know, but the Lord gives you “eyes of understanding.”
Paul knew that the girl in Philippi, calling his company servants of the Most High God, had a spirit of divination. You don’t have to be an apostle to have discernment if you’re filled with the Holy Spirit. The Lord wants to enlighten your spirit, not just so you can discern devils, but so you’ll know the things of God. In your daily devotional, you have a rich inheritance because you have a better covenant with better promises.
God’s Great Power
In verse 19, Paul mentions God’s great power: “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.” God’s power is available to you as a covenant believer who walks in faith. Worldly power is limited, but God’s power is unlimited.
In Matthew 19:26, Jesus proclaims that “with God all things are possible,” and Psalm 62:11 declares that power belongs to God. In this daily devotional, when you begin to see Him as the Almighty God, there are no limits to what you can receive, according to His will.
For Your Benefit
In verse 20, Paul speaks of Jesus: “Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.” God’s mighty power was manifested through Christ. In your daily devotional, God raised Him from the dead after dying a public death for the sins of the world. What was wrought in Christ is for your benefit.
Your Blessings are Incomparable
In Wednesday’s daily devotional, many saw Jesus die, and many saw Him after His resurrection. Then He reentered heaven with power and glory. He is now seated at God’s right hand in a seat of authority. In today’s daily devotional, Paul’s prayer reveals the incomparable blessings you have in Christ.
