Daily Devotional Friday Faith | October 2, 2026
Happy Friday! It’s time for your daily devotional. Psalm 133 is the last of the Songs of Ascent attributed to David. It’s thought to have been composed when David was crowned king over a united Israel. Although he was renowned as a warrior, David worked for unity and peace. In today’s daily devotional, God’s people should be unified amidst the world’s chaos.
Dwell Together in Unity
David sings of peace in verse 1: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” Believers have “one Lord, one faith, one baptism.” Being united in our beliefs should make it easier to unite as one. As the pilgrims traveled singing, tribes met on the roads to Jerusalem. Although they were from different territories, they were brethren, sons of Abraham and children of God.
It pleases God when His people come together without strife or discord. Colossians 3:15 admonishes, “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body.” In today’s daily devotional, you should strive to form good relationships with other believers. Make it your goal to fellowship with other believers to build better bonds of unity and peace.
Togetherness and One-mindedness
Imagine multitudes of pilgrims traveling in the same direction, lifting their voices in praise to the Most High. Joy and excitement filled their voices as they went up to God’s temple to worship Him. They perhaps remembered David’s coronation at Hebron, where all the tribes gathered to crown him king.
Although this unity didn’t last, they remembered it as a time of togetherness and one-mindedness, as their forefathers committed themselves to David’s leadership. In your daily devotional, Paul admonishes you in Ephesians 4:3 to “keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Unity of Fellowship and Service

Verse 2 proclaims, “It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments.” In the Middle East, a common greeting was to pour oil on a friend’s head to refresh them after travel; the scented oils also provided a beautiful fragrance. It symbolized unity in friendship. However, the oil used in the temple was different from the oils used commonly.
Temple oil wasn’t duplicated, for it was to anoint the priests for God’s service. David includes an illustration of the anointing of Aaron, Israel’s first high priest. The “precious ointment” poured upon his head ran down his beard and was sprinkled upon the skirt of his robe. This was a unity of holiness, symbolizing Aaron’s separation from the world and consecration to God. In this daily devotional, celebrate the unity of fellowship and service unto God.
Spiritual Renewal
In verse 3, David proclaims, “As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” Mt. Hermon has the highest peak in Israel; its abundant dew runs down its slopes, nourishing the entire area, refreshing crops and vegetation. Mt. Hermon symbolizes spiritual renewal, blessing, and the refreshing of the Holy Spirit. In your daily devotional, God has blessed you naturally and spiritually with the unity of friends, family, and the Body of Christ.
You Should Strive for Peace and Unity
In Friday’s daily devotional, God commands the blessing of unity; it’s refreshing and life-giving. People of God will spend “life for evermore” in eternity. Don’t wait; work toward it now. As David gathered the twelve tribes together, make oneness a priority. In today’s daily devotional, the world offers strife and discord, but among God’s people, there should be unity and peace.
