Boom Studios will become an imprint of Random House Worlds, the publisher announced during New York Comic Con Retailer Day, according to Bleeding Cool. The change marks the next step in Penguin Random House’s integration of the comic and graphic novel publisher, which it acquired in 2024.

The announcement came Wednesday at NYCC Retailer Day, the professional-only event held the day before New York Comic Con opens to the public. Starting in January 2027, all Boom Studios titles will be solicited under the Random House Worlds imprint banner. Single-issue Boom Studios comics will make that shift sooner, taking effect in the November 2026 Penguin Random House catalogue.

What Changes Under The Imprint Arrangement

Boom Studios will now show up in the Penguin Random House publisher section on PRH Self-Service ordering systems, rather than operating as a standalone listing. That puts the comics publisher alongside Del Rey, Inklore and the company’s licensed publishing lines inside the Random House Worlds portfolio.

According to Bleeding Cool, the move is meant to streamline ordering and visibility for retailers using Penguin Random House’s systems while positioning Boom Studios more firmly within the larger publisher’s structure.

What It Means For Boom’s Publishing Identity

Boom Studios publisher Michael Kelly joined the Random House Worlds leadership team earlier this year and now reports to Keith Clayton, senior vice president and publisher of Random House Worlds, Bleeding Cool reported. That reporting line was already in place before this week’s announcement, which formalizes Boom’s position within the Random House Worlds structure rather than introducing a new leadership change.

The move does not include announced changes to Boom’s editorial operations or creative branding.

Context: A 2024 Acquisition Taking Shape

Penguin Random House bought Boom Studios in 2024, and this week’s announcement continues that integration. The publisher completed a broader organizational integration earlier this year that included leadership realignments across its imprints, setting up the framework that now places Boom Studios under Random House Worlds.

Upcoming Titles And What’s Next

The next milestone is November 2026, when single-issue Boom Studios comics begin appearing in the Penguin Random House catalogue under the new arrangement, ahead of the full solicitation shift in January 2027.
