We all know that Blake Lively is in the midst of some serious legal issues with her former This Is Us co-star Justin Baldoni. Their legal battle started back in December 2024 when she accused Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment and infliction of emotional distress. As a result, Justin Baldoni countersued Lively for defamation and extortion. Now, Taylor Swift is getting caught in the middle of the ongoing legal battle.
Blake Lively and Taylor Swift Feud
At the beginning of May, news broke that Taylor Swift was issued a subpoena for the ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. According to People, Taylor’s spokesperson was quick to deny everything.
They said, “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”
Fans have noticed that Taylor has distanced herself far from Blake, despite being so close that Taylor is even the godmother to her children. Many have speculated that the two are no longer friends because of everything happening with the lawsuit, and unfortunately, it seems like things are only getting nastier between the two.
Blake Lively Threatens Blackmail
After the news (and denial) of the subpoena, a letter from Justin Baldoni’s lawyers was leaked. In the letter, his attorneys claimed that Lively threatened Swift to publicly support her. Bryan Freedman, Justin Baldoni’s lawyer, claimed he had received a tip from a “source who is highly likely to have reliable information,” according to People. The source claimed that Blake Lively asked Taylor Swift to delete text messages.
People also said that Lively’s attorney was in contact with Swift’s, and demanded that not only give a statement in support of Lively, but also “intimating that if Ms. Swift refused to do so, private text messages of a personal nature in Ms. Lively’s possession would be released.”
In a statement to People, Lively’s attorney Mike Gottlieb says, “This is categorically false. We unequivocally deny all of these so-called allegations, which are cowardly sourced to supposed anonymous sources, and completely untethered from reality. This is what we have come to expect from the Wayfarer parties’ lawyers, who appear to love nothing more than shooting first, without any evidence, and with no care for the people they are harming in the process. We will imminently file motions with the court to hold these attorneys accountable for their misconduct here.”
The legal battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively has been messy from the start. With this new drama that includes Taylor Swift, it’s only going to continue to get messier.
