Wit Studio will animate Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 4, according to Anime News Network, which reported the news Saturday following the finale of the studio’s two-cour adaptation of Part 3.
The announcement means Miya Kazuki’s light novel series will keep its anime going into the Royal Academy storyline, which follows heroine Rozemyne as she pursues her dream of surrounding herself with books.
What we know about Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 4
Part 4 of the novels is titled “Founder of the Royal Academy’s So-Called Library Committee.” Wit Studio’s most recent adaptation covered Part 3, “Adopted Daughter of an Archduke,” which premiered April 4, 2026, per Wikipedia.
That season follows Myne’s transition into noble society as Rozemyne, the adopted daughter of an archduke. She faces strict etiquette and magic training while serving as High Bishop, yet her passion for books never fades, especially when she gains access to the temple’s book room.
Wit Studio has not yet announced a premiere date, window or other production details for Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 4.
The story so far
The series centers on Urano Motosu, a book-loving college student who dies when her personal library collapses on her during an earthquake. She is reincarnated as Myne, a five-year-old girl in a world where books are scarce and only available to elites, and she resolves to make her own.
Wikipedia describes the story as moving from Myne’s life as a soldier’s daughter to her time as a shrine maiden apprentice, then her adoption by an archduke and her enrollment at the Royal Academy, where Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 4 picks up. In the novel’s first academy year, Rozemyne also returns to her duties as High Bishop, and the question of her future engagement becomes a political concern for the duchy.
J-Novel Club holds the English license for the light novels, and the company released volumes from 2019 to 2024 in print and digital formats.
Cast and crew behind the anime
Wit Studio took over the franchise from Studio Ajiado, which animated the first three seasons under director Mitsuru Hongo. Director Yoshiaki Iwasaki led Wit’s Part 3 adaptation, according to Wikipedia. Wikipedia counts Wit’s Part 3 adaptation as the anime’s fourth season, which is why the numbering differs between the novels and the screen.
The Part 3 cast included Yuka Iguchi as Rozemyne and Show Hayami as Ferdinand. Their roles in Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 4 have not been confirmed, and no creative staff for the new season has been announced.

The publisher said in December 2024 that the series had more than 11 million copies in circulation.
