Amazon Prime Video has given us many amazing shows and movies, but they don’t always renew their top shows. In fact, Amazon Prime Video recently canceled many of its top shows that were planned for a renewal or ended without giving us closure!

My Lady Jane

My Lady Jane is a work of historical fiction about Lady Jane Grey, the cousin of King Edward VI, who was crowned queen after he passed for all of nine days before she was beheaded. This show changed that story nearly completely, bringing in a different class differential of Verity versus Ethian, people who can change their shape at will. Jane’s mother coerces her to marry Lord Guildford Dudley, which sets in motion a successful plan to put Jane on the throne of England, something Princess Mary is extremely upset about, as Mary believes the throne should be hers.

Citadel: Hunny Bunny

After only their first seasons, Amazon Prime Video canceled the Citadel spinoffs, Hunny Bunny, set in India, and Diana, set in Italy. Their storylines are to be woven into the second season of the main Citadel series instead, according to reports. The second season is meant to air sometime in 2026. Vernon Sanders, Amazon MGM head, said this in a statement, “While these successful and widely enjoyed international chapters will not continue as individual series, Season 2 of Citadel will be our most exhilarating yet.”

Clean Slate

Clean Slate is the final TV production from the sitcom legend, Norman Lear, and has officially been canceled by Amazon Prime Video. Clean Slate is a comedy series following Desiree (Laverne Cox) returning to her small town in Alabama to reunite with her father, Harry (George Wallace), after 23 years. Harry is excited to reunite with his son, but he has no idea that his son is now a proud transgender woman.

Cruel Intentions

Cruel Intentions was cancelled after only its first season, which premiered in November 2024 as a follow-up to the 1999 movie of the same name. The show followed step-siblings Caroline (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien (Zac Burgess) at Manchester College, a D.C.-adjacent university. After a hazing incident threatens their positions in the Greek life system, they plot to seduce Annie Grover (Savannah Lee Smith), the Vice President’s daughter, to maintain their power and reputation.

Outer Range

Outer Range, canceled after two seasons, is a Neo-western mystery thriller starring Josh Brolin as Royal Abbott, a rancher in Wyoming who discovers a massive and mysterious black hole on his property. The show follows the Abbotts and their rival family, the Tillersons, grappling with the hole’s enigmatic properties, including time travel and a series of disappearances and strange occurrences.

What is Next for Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video may have given us many wonderful shows, but it did not see fit to continue to provide us with these stories, however popular they may have been. That just goes to show how fickle the media industry can be. Certain shows can run for 22 years or more, while others end too soon. Some of the shows I mentioned here even had movements and petitions signed by the fans to continue the show, but to no avail. Prime Video has made it clear that these shows will be no more.

If you have not seen the shows on this list, while they may not be continuing, they are recommended by fans worldwide as masterpieces. Perhaps if enough people continue to watch these, Prime Video might recognize the fans’ desperate need for more, and they might just listen. Perhaps enough people watching can bring these shows back, but only time will tell.
