Alanis Morissette has announced her first Christmas album, Good Weather For Immaculate Conception, set for release on Nov. 6 through Epiphany Music/Virgin Music. The lead single, a cover of the gospel hymn “Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem,” features Brandi Carlile and Steve Martin, according to Stereogum.

The track is best known from the Judds’ recording, and Morissette’s version marks her first foray into holiday music after decades of hits built on confessional rock and pop.

Alanis Morissette Christmas Album Release Date And Details

  • Title: Good Weather For Immaculate Conception
  • Release date: Nov. 6
  • Label: Epiphany Music/Virgin Music
  • Lead single: “Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem” featuring Brandi Carlile and Steve Martin

The album includes two songs Morissette wrote specifically for the project, “Christmas On The Dance Floor” and “To An Empath At Christmas Time,” alongside a run of holiday standards reworked in her own style.

What We Know About The Track List And Guests

Beyond the Carlile and Martin collaboration, the album features a separate track called “Merry Christmas” with Martin Short, Steve Martin’s longtime collaborator and co-star on Only Murders In The Building. Additional guest artists on the record include Joy Oladokun, Amythyst Kiah and the British trans choir Trans Voices, though the sources do not specify which songs they appear on.

The full tracklist includes:

  • “O Holy Night”
  • “To An Empath At Christmas Time”
  • “What Child Is This?”
  • “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)”
  • “Little Drummer Boy”
  • “Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem” (feat. Brandi Carlile & Steve Martin)
  • “Christmas On The Dancefloor”
  • “Merry Christmas” (feat. Martin Short)

Why These Guests

Morissette and Carlile recently performed together at Red Rocks. Martin, a comedy legend and bluegrass musician, recently joined an all-star roots-music cover of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.” Carlile and Martin bring harmony-driven roots and bluegrass textures to the gospel hymn, a different feel from Morissette’s confessional rock catalog.

What’s Next

Good Weather For Immaculate Conception arrives Nov. 6 on Epiphany Music/Virgin Music. No further details on tour dates or additional singles from the album have been announced.
