Aerosmith will return to the stage for two concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Oct. 29 and Nov. 1, 2026, marking the band’s first live performances in more than three years. The events, titled California, Dream On: Aerosmith and Friends, according to Rolling Stone.
The guest roster includes the Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Heart, Andrew Watt, Billy Idol, Chad Smith, Slash, Duff McKagan, Eric Church, Sammy Hagar and Tom Morello.
How The Shows Were Announced
Steven Tyler, 78, teamed with rock photographer Ross Halfin on a teaser video that preceded the formal announcement, according to Billboard. In the clip, Tyler climbed a ladder to place letters on the Hollywood Bowl marquee spelling out the comeback shows, with the band’s 1975 song “Sweet Emotion” playing underneath.
The Canceled Farewell Tour
Aerosmith announced its Peace Out farewell tour on May 1, 2023, and kicked it off in Philadelphia that Sept. 2. The 40-date North American run was intended to close out the band’s touring career, but it stopped after just three shows when frontman Steven Tyler fractured his larynx, Rolling Stone reported.
The tour was initially postponed before the band ultimately canceled it entirely and announced its retirement from touring. Drummer Joey Kramer did not take part in those 2023 dates, with John Douglas filling in on drums.
Tyler spent months working to recover his voice after the injury despite having top medical support, according to Rolling Stone. Joe Perry told Billboard in April 2026 that “it’s just been in the last six months that Steven’s started to get comfortable with singing; he literally had to take a year off before he was able to start stretching his vocal cords, and you’re always worried about reinjuring it.”
Signs Of A Return
Tyler has performed at special events since the touring retirement without apparent vocal trouble, including Ozzy Osbourne’s Back to the Beginning farewell concert in July 2025. Aerosmith and Yungblud also released the collaborative EP One More Time in November 2025.
Tyler described meeting Yungblud to Rolling Stone UK, saying, “It was, like, insane, meeting him for the first time. I fucking fell in love with him, first sight. All I could think of was, dare I say something that’s been used to death, he was like a brother from another mother.
It was like looking at myself in the mirror. Like: ‘Wait, where have I seen this fucking guy before?'”
Away from Aerosmith, guitarist Joe Perry focused on his side group the Joe Perry Project last fall, bringing in Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson and Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo. Bassist Tom Hamilton also toured and recorded with his band Close Enemies during the same stretch.
