Adults season 2 grew streaming viewership 40 percent in 12 days, FX says, helped by a prequel episode and strong reviews.

Adults season 2 is pulling in more viewers than the first. Streaming viewership for the FX comedy rose 40 percent in the 12 days after the Aug. 27 premiere, compared with the same window for season 1, according to FX figures reported by Deadline.

Adults Season 2 Viewership: What the Numbers Show

The eight-episode second season streams on Hulu and Disney+. International viewership also doubled, according to SSBCrack News, which summarized trade reports on the growth.

Critics have been kind. SSBCrack reported that season 2 holds a 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, up from 77 percent for season 1.

How the Prequel Helped

Creators Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw released a standalone prequel, “Marathon Day,” on July 31 to introduce newcomers to the friend group before season 2, The Hollywood Reporter reported. SSBCrack said season 1 viewership rose 50 percent after the prequel arrived.

Cast and Guest Stars

The main cast includes Malik Elassal, Lucy Freyer, Jack Innanen, Amita Rao and Owen Thiele. Season 2 adds guest turns from Raven-Symoné, Gaten Matarazzo, Susie Essman and Zosia Mamet.

What Is Next for Adults

FX has not announced a third season in the reports reviewed, though trade outlets are already weighing its renewal chances.
