Abel in Hazbin Hotel Season 2 Reveal

During the holiday break, some extraordinary news relating to Hazbin Hotel shocked the fandom. Viv and her crew gave fans a sneak peek at a never-before-seen character, Abel. The famous child of Adam and Eve appeared alongside other heavenly figures on Twitter/X. Despite not knowing much about him, everyone is excited about this reveal. They’re also anxious about what his inclusion could mean for the upcoming second season’s story.

The Characters of the Hell-Based Musical

Created by Vivienne Medrano, Hazbin Hotel follows the exploits of Charlie Morningstar, Hell’s princess. She works to redeem sinful souls with her hotel so they ascend into paradise. Her goal is to save her people from the annual extermination conducted by Heaven. This adult animated musical show features an impressive array of characters fans cannot help adoring. Alongside Charlie is her girlfriend Vaggie and business partner Alastor the Radio Demon. Husk and Nifty are staff members, with Angel Dust and Sir Pentious as their patrons.

Opposite to them are the individuals residing behind the pearly gates of Heaven. This cast of angelic beings includes the high overseer Sera and her young counterpart, Emily. There’s also the welcoming guardian to the entrance into paradise known as St. Peter. However, the most prominent is Adam, the commander of the bloodthirsty Exorcists. He and his lieutenant Lute lead the yearly purge against the sinners of Hell. And as you guessed it, he’s The First Man and the father of Abel.

Abel Makes His Grand Debut

Abel first appeared not in the show but in a pic on the show’s Twitter/X. He’s caroling alongside St. Peter, Emily, and Sera, wishing fans a ‘Happy Holidays.’ Fans, myself included, were thrilled over this delightfully unorthodox and festive character reveal. Many replied to the post about him being adorable and kind-looking. Others have even created theories about why he’s blond while his father was a brunette. Either way, there was much excitement over Abel’s reveal, and there still is.

It’s plain to everyone that this Abel stems from the character in the Bible. The original individual was the second son of Adam and Eve and a shepherd. He offered Heaven his flock’s firstborn, which they accepted but rejected his brother Cain’s offering. Cain became so jealous that he murdered his sibling and became cursed for his actions. Their tale is to teach others the importance of brotherly love and self-control. It’ll be interesting to see how much of the story transfers to Hazbin Hotel.

What Abel’s Inclusion Could Bring

Abel’s role in Hazbin Hotel is unclear due to little official information. Since he’s from Heaven, he could be an antagonist to Charlie and her friends. Abel might take up arms against them since they were responsible for his father’s death. His joining the Exorcists and leading them alongside Lute is another possibility. Or his ambitions may lie in simply ruining the hotel and making Charlie look bad.

The antagonistic role is likely, but there’s the chance Abel could be an ally. It’s plausible he’ll back Charlie’s attempts at redeeming sinners and rescuing them from Hell. This choice could be his way of making up for his father’s actions. He may be Adam’s son, though he doesn’t have to possess the same personality. Abel might be the opposite and represent Heaven’s virtues like Emily seemingly does. Of course, these theories stem from whether he’ll appear in the show.

Final Thoughts

I’m very intrigued by the idea of Abel coming into Hazbin Hotel and his role. What direction Medrano takes him is unknown, though my vote is for the antagonistic route. This choice stems from being the most feasible idea given Medrano’s creative decisions. Nevertheless, the best option is to wait and see what happens. We can only hope that Abel doesn’t become a second Adam, antagonist or otherwise. His inclusion isn’t confirmed yet, but the possibility is high because of this reveal.
