Grammy Awards 2026: Kendrick Lamar Dominates With 9 Nominations, Lady Gaga Scores 7
The nominees for the Grammy Awards 2026 are in, and Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga are leading the pack. For the Grammy Awards 2026, Kendrick Lamar has nine nominations, including Best Rap Album and Album of the Year for GNX. Second is Lady Gaga, with seven nominations, including Record of the Year for Abracadabra. The Grammy Awards 2026 will feature 95 categories, introducing new ones, Best Album Cover, and Best Traditional Country Album.
Grammy History Awaits Kendrick Lamar
The Grammy Awards 2026 will air on February 1st on CBS and stream live on Paramount+, and could be a history-making night for many artists, including Kendrick Lamar. The “Money Tree” rapper had a big year following the release of his 10th album, GNX. The album included the songs “Squabble Up” and “Luther,” which swept the charts and secured Kendrick Lamar’s performance at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.
The nine categories for which the “Poetic Justice” rapper is nominated are: “Not Like Us” is nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Music Video. GNZ is nominated for Album of the Year. The other nominations are Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance,
Best Rap Album and Best Melodic Rap Performance.
According to the Grammys records, if Kendrick Lamar wins at least four times, he will be the rapper with the most Grammys, passing Jay Z and Kanye West. If the “30 for 30” rapper wins song of the year or record of the year, it will be his second year in a row winning.
Timeless Grammy Icon: Lady Gaga
All the little monsters will be front and center to see how many awards Lady Gaga will take home. For the 2026 Grammy Awards, the seven categories she is nominated for are Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. Other categories Lady Gaga is nominated for are: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Music Video, and
Best Dance/Electronic Recording.
Next year, at the Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga is the female artist with the most Grammy nominations. But the “Die With A Smile “artist is no stranger to the Grammy nominations list. In 2008 and 2011, she was nominated for six awards, totaling 45 nominations. The “Pokerface” singer’s album, Mayhem, will be in a showdown against GNZ, nominated in 4 of the same categories.
Grammy Spotlight Shines on Rising Stars
Other artists to watch out for on Grammy night are Bad Bunny, Leon Thomas, and Sabrina Carpenter. Each artist is nominated for six Grammys. New faces like KATSEYE, ROSÉ as a solo artist, Addison Rae, Doechii, and PinkPantheress, to name a few.
The 2026 Grammy Awards nominations are the first of many announcements to come as the show gets closer. The host and performers have yet to be revealed. Below is the complete list of Grammy nominations courtesy of People.
