Zootopia 2 Teaser Demonstrates Funny Chases and a Mysterious Villain

Zootopia 2

The teaser trailer for Zootopia 2, the sequel to Disney’s hit 2016 film Zootopia, dropped today. While it demonstrated very little about the main plot, it showed that we will be seeing old friends again, and that leads characters Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde might be in trouble with the law. Also, there’s a snake.

The Zootopia 2 Teaser

The teaser opens with three rodents jumping on a “Catsio” (a play on Casio) electric keyboard to play a dance tune. We then see Judy and Nick getting tangled with a snake, and a bunch of police rhinos chase them throughout the different Zootopia environments. They’re stopped in a nightclub, where a mysterious hooded figure with glowing eyes menacingly approaches them. Then we get glimpses of several characters from the original film, including Mr. Big, Flash, and Dawn Bellwether. As a moose blows fire from a torch, the title flashes, and the teaser ends.

What Could the Teaser Mean?

The snake, whose name is Gary, appears to be in trouble with the law, and Judy and Nick appear to be helping him for some reason. Since Judy and Nick are cops themselves, they need strong motivation to go against the law. In addition, who could the menacing figure with the glowing eyes be? Since this is a world populated by animals, it might be reasonable to assume it is a cat of some kind. Also surprising is the appearance of Dawn Bellwether, who was revealed to be the villain in the first film and was arrested at the end. Could she be teaming up with the mysterious figure?

Are Nick and Judy Dating in Zootopia 2?

Nick and Judy had plenty of chemistry in the first movie, which many fans interpreted as romantic. However, the relationship itself was ambiguous as to whether they were in love or just friends. The teaser gave no hints one way or the other, but the film will undoubtedly develop their relationship further in some way. Disney may be on a sequel kick lately, but the world of Zootopia and the characters within it have plenty of potential to be developed further. When Zootopia 2 releases in November, fans will likely find plenty to enjoy.
