Zoids: Chaotic Century is officially coming back to finish the story it left behind more than two decades ago. Manga artist Michiro Ueyama announced that he is producing a final chapter of the series, set to arrive in 2027, according to CBR.

For fans who have waited since the original manga ended in 2001, this means the long-dormant story of Van Flyheight, Fiona and the Organoid Zeke finally gets an official conclusion, backed by franchise rights holder Takara Tomy. Per CBR, Ueyama revealed the news in a post on X, explaining that the finale will build on Zoids EX: Chaotic Century, a fan-made continuation he self-published on his personal website years ago.

Zoids: Chaotic Century Manga Finale Announcement

That unofficial version stalled not long after it began, but it now has formal backing to go all the way to the end. “This is a project to be serialized as an official sequel with formal permission from Takara Tomy,” Ueyama wrote, per CBR. “The serialization on the site had remained on indefinite hiatus, but this time, we will produce it all the way to the story’s conclusion. I am currently working diligently on the continuation portion announced on the web.”

The original Zoids: Chaotic Century manga ran in Monthly CoroCoro Comic from 1999 to 2001. Ueyama is also the artist behind Kiiju Shinseiki Zoido, a classic manga that helped build the broader Zoids franchise from its roots in Takara’s toys and model kits.

What It Means For Fans

The announcement confirms that Chaotic Century will finally get the ending its manga audience never received, something Ueyama has apparently wanted to deliver since his unofficial fan continuation fizzled out. With Takara Tomy’s blessing, the story now has an official path to closure rather than remaining an abandoned side project.

CBR’s report does not specify a publication platform, whether the conclusion will extend beyond manga form, or how many chapters the finale will run. Those details have not been announced.

Background On Chaotic Century

Zoids: Chaotic Century first reached anime audiences in 1999 as the franchise’s debut television adaptation, running for 67 episodes. The series holds a 7.8 out of 10 rating on IMDb across more than 800 reviews.

The story takes place on the planet Zi, where humans coexist with biomechanical creatures called Zoids and have used them for warfare. Much of the conflict centers on the rivalry between the Helic Republic and the Guylos Empire, a feud that has repeatedly erupted into full-scale war.

At the center of it all is Van Flyheight, a teenager who crosses paths with the enigmatic Fiona and the Organoid Zeke, a Zoid capable of merging with other Zoids. The trio travels across Zi searching for the truth behind Fiona’s mysterious past while a new war threatens to engulf their world.

What’s Next

Ueyama said he is actively working on the continuation chapters teased on his website, with the final chapter targeted for production in 2027. No release date, chapter count or publishing format has been confirmed beyond that timeline.
