Gen.G Esports has dominated LoL Esports in recent years. However, the Worlds trophy has always eluded them. They chase the title once more at Worlds 2026. Standing in their way is the final North American Hope. LYON, led by Inspired, looks to shock the LCK champions. The two teams met earlier in the Swiss Stage. LYON started strong, but Gen.G rebounded to win the series 2-1.
Worlds 2026: Player Head-To-Head

Top Lane – Kiin Versus Dhokla
Kiin has struggled this year. He has always been one of the best top laners. But he lost the mantle of best top laner. Towards the end of the year, he battled with Zeus for the spot. Kiin is back in form, and that is a scary thought for Dhokla. Kiin will rarely dominate lane, but is always relevant and makes few mistakes when in form. Dhokla at his best may not be enough to topple Kiin.
Jungle – Canyon Versus Inspired (Featured Matchup)
The most important matchup. We are starting to become a broken record, but Inspired is the heart of LYON. He has been here before. Two years ago, Inspired faced them in the Worlds 2024 Quarterfinals. He played for FlyQuest. They were 2-1 up in the series. As has been the case for Inspired, it was another defeat to an Eastern team. Canyon is not unbeatable. He has had moments of weakness on the international stage. Inspired must leverage those to push his team forward.
Mid Lane – Chovy Versus Saint
Saint has his work cut out for him. He struggled to maintain his position in the side lanes against LOS. There is no better mid laner at side laning than Chovy. Granted, few can beat him at anything. Saint must keep up with him if they want a chance in the series.
Bot Lane – Ruler Versus Berserker
Much like Kiin, Ruler struggled this year. He went through a rough patch. But towards the end of the year, he reinvented himself. Ruler has returned to peak form. Everyone knows what that means. He is nearly untouchable. He stopped the original SKT1 dynasty. Berserker is a vital piece. He has not reached his peak at Worlds. He will need that to battle Ruler.
Support – Duro Versus Isles
Duro is the unassuming carry for his team. He is not as explosive as Keria. Nor does he have the engage angles like Delight. Duro finds himself in the middle. He fills the void that they need in a draft. Even during Ruler’s rough patch, Duro remained stable. Isles has been explosive this year. We will never forget his Pyke performance against Hanwha Life Esports at MSI.
Predictions

Gen.G Esports 3-1 LYON
Individually, the Tigers outmatch their opponents. Only Inspired can hold a candle to his counterpart. The LATAM organisation has to rely on their team play to win. Fortunately, they are one of the best team-fighting teams in the West. They did it once already. They beat them in game one through superior team fighting. They are not infallible, especially on the Worlds stage.
They are coming off an extended break. Inspired knows how to strike; he has been here before. Beating them three times is not a cakewalk for most teams. Since 2022, they have lost best-of-five series to T1, KT Rolster, Hanwha Life Esports, Bilibili Gaming, and DRX. LYON can not afford to slip up. The Tigers are always ready to pounce. They led in game three. But one errant teamfight later, and the game slipped away.
Invictus Gaming Awaits
Invictus Gaming won the first quarterfinal match. Today’s winner will meet them in the semi-finals. For Gen.G, a loss will further stain their status as the greatest LoL Esports team. The external pressure is off LYON. The fans have reserved expectations. If they win, it will be one of the greatest days in NA history. But a loss will further cement Inspired as the almost-man.
