Deadpool & Wolverine is the only Marvel Cinematic Universe film hitting theatres in 2024. The Merc with the Mouth and Logan will be on-screen together for the much-anticipated film. Fans will also see Deadpool make his MCU debut alongside Wolverine. The teaser trailer for the film was released during the Super Bowl.

Hugh Jackman is reprising his role as the mutant, despite his character’s death in 2017’s Logan. Ryan Reynolds and Jackman made it clear to fans that the film will “not touch” the events of Logan. The latest trailer showed a lot more Wolverine, teasing his backstory and the state of his universe.

The latest trailer heavily teased the dark backstory, hinting at tragic events in his universe. The trailer involving more Wolverine has garnered over 10 million views, generating excitement among fans. After multiple releases, Deadpool and Wolverine will be the MCU’s only film in 2024. The first trailer focuses on Wade Wilson’s life, while the latest one focuses on the other lead characters.

The new trailer features Jackman’s Wolverine, who shows why he is the most notorious X-Men live character. He is known for his bloody action sequences and emotional and vulnerable character moments. However, according to the new trailer, things look bleak for this version of him.

The trailer shows the downtrodden mutant sitting in a bar waiting for his drink. However, the bartender speaks to him harshly, saying that he isn’t welcome in the bar or anywhere else. That moment is expanded by some dialogue from Deadpool and Paradox, the TVA’s agent, and a seeming flashback sequence of Logan’s past.

Deadpool says that Wolverine’s world went haywire, while Paradox vehemently claims that he “let down his entire world.” That alone gives a glimpse into Jackman’s return as the mutant. Since the MCU’s Multiverse Saga is underway, it is safe to assume that there could be an explanation for what happened in Logan’s world.

The issues that led to Wolverine’s dark story are not revealed. However, the concepts of the Void and Multiverse, especially the “Incursions” introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, can return to help explain what happened to Logan’s world. When the answer comes, it could be pretty dark and tragic. An incursion occurs when two universe collide, in which one or both is destroyed.

The Film Could Reveal Wolverine’s Dark Past

An Incursion might have destroyed Wolverine’s world, with Logan failing to help stop it. According to footage released at CinemaCon, the film happens before Loki’s events. Paradox has a line about the TVA protecting the sacred timeline. It wasn’t a thing until after Loki season 2, with the God of Mischief watching the multiverse, allowing different universes to thrive without the TVA taking them out of existence.

The film could take place back when the TVA had complete control of the multiverse. Considering Paradox’s lines in the latest trailer and footage. He would know more about destruction across the multiverse than anyone. Since he tells Deadpool that this version Wolverine let his world down, it seems that Paradox knows exactly what happened.

There is a quick scene where Logan falls down to knees at a dark location, teasing a revelation of hia dark past. It is safe to assume that fans will get a glimpse of Wolverine’s world and the events leading to his universe’s downfall. It remains to be seen until later this summer of what happened in Logan’s world.

Deadpool and Wolverine will hit theatres on July 26.
