Are you looking to add to your facial and haircare routine? Then, try infusing batana oil into your facial and hair care products, as the oil is rich in vitamins that will keep your skin and hair glowing, especially in the driest of times when moisturizing our faces alone with regular products may not get the job done.
Although science cannot confirm the benefits batana oil provides, the product is still gaining popularity as those who have used it have noticed healthier hair and clearer faces. So, if you decide to try the oil for yourself, be aware of any allergic reactions or other skin irritations. In fact, it’s recommended that you do a skin patch test with the oil first before applying it directly to your skin, or talk to a professional for more information.
What is Botana Oil Exactly?
Extracted from the nut of an American palm tree, batana oil oozes a yellow liquid that is said to be good for skin and hair. Although batana oil comes from an American palm tree, it actually has more history with Honduras’ native Miskito people, as most of these palm trees are located in Central and South America.
For hundreds of years, the Miskito people have sought batana oil, or, as they prefer to call it, “miracle oil,” for its various benefits. The primary purposes that Mistiko people have used batana oil for are longer and stronger hair and as a face moisturizer for cleaner skin.
Where to Find Batana Oil?
As great as batana oil is for the skin and hair, you should keep in mind that it’s an extremely rare product to get your hands on. You see, the process of producing the oil is extremely labor-intensive and is mostly done manually.
To clarify, one American palm tree can grow between ten and twenty large fruits a year, each containing around two to four liters of raw oil. After taking fruit from the palm tree, it’s boiled and pounded to remove its outer shell. From there, these shells are cooked to extract the oil, which is then poured into glass bottles to cool into a thick paste for you to purchase.
Batana Oil in Facial Cleaners
Like with any other oil included in a beauty routine, batana oil is great as a natural face moisturizer as it has various vitamins that help the skin stay clean and healthy. Have you heard of tocotrienols and tocopherols? If you haven’t, you should know that these vitamins can be found in batana oil, which you can use as sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
Moreover, you can use batana oil by adding it to moisturizers, masks, or any other facial cleaner. What’s even better? The oil works great for acne-prone skin, so kiss those pimples goodbye, as you’ll have cleaner skin in no time. Just don’t make the mistake of overusing the oil, as it’s recommended for use up to two nights a week, especially if you have dry skin.
Batana Oil in Haircare Products
As a haircare product, batana oil helps with hair growth and loss prevention. Alongside maintaining healthy hair, you can use batana oil’s yellow color as a dye for lighter or shinier hair. If you have grey, white, or platinum blonde hair, then batana oil would benefit you the most when adding more color to your hair.
Using batana oil for your hair has a similar process to your skin routine. Just keep in mind that whatever effects the oil has on your skin, your scalp has a high chance of experiencing the same effects. With that said, test batana oil on your arm first to see how your skin reacts to it before applying it. If all goes well, you can wash your hair, knowing you won’t run into any problems.
