Voldemort, He Who Shall Not Be Named! If you’re looking for action, drama, and magic, look no further than the Wizarding World. This critically acclaimed franchise follows the adventures of Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived. It’s also filled with other colorful characters, including the main antagonist, Lord Voldemort. Also known as the Dark Lord, this sorcerer desires to reign over all. Voldemort has intentions and goals that are evil and vile at their core. The entire wizardly world soon finds itself divided solely because of Voldemort himself. The books and films showcased his downfall, but he’ll return in a new series reboot.
The Magical World of Harry Potter
Voldemort and the Wizarding World characters debuted in the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. These fantasy novels feature the complicated life and adventures of the titular protagonist. Harry grew up as a slave to his abusive relatives. His life changes when a renowned school of magic called Hogwarts invites him to attend. From then on, he learns about the magical world and those who live within it. Harry even discovers he’s famous amongst the citizens for a shocking reason! He had no idea how much his life was about to change and how his life would change other lives as well!
When still a baby, Harry was attacked by Voldemort, the world’s most evil wizard. The vile sorcerer attempted to strike the infant down, but his killing spell rebounded. Harry received his signature scar, while Voldemort became weak and nearly powerless. He had to flee and find a way to reclaim his lost strength. Since the first book, Voldemort has appeared, or someone has mentioned him in some context. The books even explore his backstory and reveal his true intentions. Books tend to have more detail than movies or series because there is not as
Voldemort, the Dark Lord
Before becoming the magical world’s most wanted fiend, Voldemort was Tom Marvolo Riddle. He started with humble beginnings and grew up in an orphanage. Tom experienced his magical powers at a young age, exercising them around the other orphans. Professor Albus Dumbledore eventually sought him out and invited him to attend Hogwarts. Tom became a model student in the school he considered his true home. In truth, there was more to this perfect pupil than people thought, and what was already growing inside him as his true nature would soon create a world impact.
Ever since he was a child, Tom has possessed hidden psychotic and sociopathic behaviors. They worsened as he grew up, leading to his transformation into Lord Voldemort. He’d go on to terrorize the world in his quest for immortality and world domination. His encounter with the infant Harry forced him to pause his plans. Voldemort regained his power and resumed his reign of terror before ultimately falling to Harry. Regardless, the Dark Lord will reappear in a whole new iteration, and his followers and antics will be very present, with all their intensity.
A Reboot of Mystical Proportions
Voldemort and the rest of the Wizarding World will return in an ambitious remake. Longtime fanatics will get to revisit the epic adventures and iconic character moments. New fans, meanwhile, can experience the fantasy phenomenon that took the world by storm. However, the twist is the reboot will not be a new movie series. This updated Harry Potter installment will be a story for the Max streaming service instead. It’ll also be the first new addition since the final film 15 years ago, and will not only make original fans interested and happy to see, but it will likely draw new fans and viewers.
The remake will be more faithful to Rowling’s books than the movies. This revelation means it could display scenes from the novels omitted from the films. Sources have also established that each season will retell a book, resulting in seven total. Of course, new actors will join to take on iconic character roles. Mark Rylance and Paapa Essiedu are being considered for Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape, respectively. Recently, there’s been some uproar about the actor intended to play Voldemort.
Ralph Fiennes Passes the Torch
Two-time Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes played Voldemort in four Harry Potter films. Unfortunately, he isn’t reprising his iconic role for the series reboot. The show’s producers have picked Cillian Murphy, the Oscar-winning star of Oppenheimer, as their choice. Fiennes supports this decision, saying Murphy is the perfect pick to portray his prominent character. Even though he’d gladly return if asked, Fiennes is happy to pass on the mantle. It will be interesting, to say the least, to see how another actor will now portray the Voldemort! This will be a significant change, and I am excited to see how things play out!
Final Thoughts
A Harry Potter series reboot sounds interesting and possesses tons of potential! Seeing new actors portray the beloved Wizarding World characters will naturally be weird. However, if Fiennes approves of Murphy for the part of Voldemort, then fans shouldn’t worry. The remake will bring its nostalgic magic to the franchise in 2026, which seems super far away, but at least we are almost to the end of 2024. I wonder how many viewers will tune in to watch when this series goes live? The statistics from the launch and over the first week to month will be phenomenal, and I look forward to seeing them!
