Vanderpump Rules has been one of the most widely-viewed shows on Bravo ever since its inception more than a decade ago. People have grown up watching these ‘characters’ try and make their way in singing, acting, modeling, and just living a successful life in the rat race of Los Angeles. Viewers have seen bartenders, servers, DJs, busboys, and waiters try to navigate the complexities of dating, relationships, addiction, friendships, and everything in between.
The most recent Vanderpump Rules season finale felt more like a series finale – we were treated with a montage of old clips, the cast members saying this could be the end, and one of the most beloved people walking off the set and driving away with her new beau.
Vanderpump Rules Finale – Thoughts
This season of Vanderpump Rules had to come off of one of the greatest reality TV moments to ever exist in our lifetime. Scandoval shook the world, as it was just an ultimate betrayal that was so dark and disturbing nobody saw it coming.
Ariana and Tom Sandoval were the couple that were going to make it in the long term. They had been together for almost ten years, had just moved into a house together, and were in the process of freezing and fertilizing eggs.
Raquel was one of the new members of the group. She was previously engaged to James Kennedy, the busboy with aspirations of becoming a huge DJ, but had broken up with him prior to getting married. She was still friends with most of the girls and the guys in the group and continued to spend ample time with them.
Tom Sandoval and Raquel had a months-long affair behind Ariana’s back. They deceived and betrayed her, lying right to her face.
Now, this season of Vanderpump Rules was filmed just three months after Scandoval broke, so tensions were high and relationships were trashed. We saw Ariana and Tom Sandoval try to navigate living in the same house, Raquel disappeared from our screens forever, and the rest of the group was struggling to figure out how to treat both Tom and Ariana post-scandal.
And it all culminated in a finale that broke the fourth wall.
We had seen Scheana and Lala – two long-term girl members of the friend group – consistently ‘trashing’ Ariana throughout the season for her choices and the fame she achieved post-scandal. But, this finale showed Ariana and Scheana having a heart-to-heart conversation that gave the viewers hope they could remain friends after this was all over.
Right at the end of their touching conversation, Tom walks up to try to corner Ariana to have a conversation – the final step in his redemption arc for the finale. However, Ariana, being the strong woman that she is and having set boundaries for the entire season, refused to film with him and walked away. She stormed over to the producer, stating that her having a conversation with Tom would only give HIM more power and make him feel better about himself.
Then, she gets into a car with a few of her friends (non-cast members) and her new boyfriend and drives off. As she’s leaving, we see Tom yelling about how poorly Ariana treats everyone, Lala breaking the fourth wall to say how mad she is at Ariana for not filming the TV show properly, and Scheana agreeing with her.
That was the end of Vanderpump Rules Season 11.
Could this be the end?
With friends like these, we won’t be surprised if Ariana never returns. Her ‘friends’ talked behind her back the entire season but still wanted her to be open and honest with them during every conversation. If Vanderpump Rules does come back, it will look very different. We don’t think that Tom and Ariana can film on the same show together, especially since Ariana is hoping to be bi-coastal with her gig in New York.
This could be the end of a Bravo show that has marked the teenage years of so many reality TV viewers.
