Back in 2023, PS1 classic Twisted Metal was adapted into an action post-apocalypse series. The series ended on a cliffhanger in Season 1’s finale. After two years, Peacock teases the 2nd season with the psychotic clown Sweet Tooth on their teaser poster. Then, on Feb. 13th, Sony Pictures Entertainment dropped the trailer featuring scenes from the Tournament arc. Here’s what viewers can expect from Twisted Metal Season 2.
Recapping Season 1 Finale
In Episode SHNGRLA, Milkman John Doe and Quiet were determined to complete their delivery route to New San Francisco (New San Fran). With the Convoy, they fought against Agent Stone and the Lawmen who guarded the Midtown Raceway.
Sweet Tooth chased after Stone after the Lawmen murdered his followers. He brings Stu and his best friend, Mike, for his carnage. He launched a missile strike on the Convoy’s lead truck, Juggernaut, which made Mike furious and attempted to kill him. Sweet Tooth then forced Stu to shoot him, only to have his left eye shot out.
Stu and Mike escaped the clown’s ice cream truck while he jumped onto Stone’s assault vehicle. The Lawman shot him off his car hood, and he got run over by his colleagues. After defeating Stone, John and Quiet safely arrived at New San Fran as the first Milkman delivered a package. The city’s leader, Raven, thanked John for the delivery but couldn’t allow his girlfriend to enter. He refused to leave Quiet until she shot his foot to force him inside so he could live a normal life.
A month passes as John tries to adapt but realizes he cannot be happy without her. When he tells Raven he wants to leave, she shares the truth about his forgotten past. She showed him a neighborhood house that once belonged to his family. John’s memories are recollected as he goes through the given photos to where he lost them.
Despite this, the milkman refused to stay. Raven’s guards held him hostage and forced him into Calypso’s Tournament. Outside of New San Fran, Quiet encounters the Dolls and meets John’s sister, Dollface, who has been searching for years. In the final scene, Stu is captured by Sweet Tooth after he murders Mike.

Fans on social media praised the show’s new season for casting Anthony Carrigan as Calypso. The character was previously revealed in two episodes, NUTH0UZ and SHNGRLA. His actor only spoken words and his backside was shown on camera. The latest trailer reveals Carrigan speaking into his microphone. The camera focuses on his stare to show he means business.
The character that was the most difficult to adapt was Axel, according to MJ Shaw. He tells NBC, “He’s my favorite and I’m excited to capture what fans are about to see, but also answer how will he be seen in this world. I think there’s just going to be a lot of fun with him, especially interacting with Sweet Tooth.”
All of Season 1’s characters get a makeover overhaul, including Sweet Tooth’s design. The clown glued a crossed-out ping pong ball to his mask’s left eye, honoring Twisted Metal (2012). It shows Smith’s love for the original game franchise while keeping his show canon to Stu’s action. Calypso also shares his character design with his 2012 counterpart with his all-black outfit and red cravat. Mr. Grimm has his skeleton body swapped for a human wearing a skull-painted helmet.
