‘The Boys’ to End With Season 5

Amazon’s popular series, The Boys, is going to end with its 5th season. This announcement was made by the showrunner, Eric Kripke, in the premiere week of Season 4. This step is in line with Kripke’s original idea for the show to maintain quality and avoid exhaustion.

Kripke announced via X (formerly Twitter) that The Boys would end at Season 5. He revealed that it had been his plan all along but had to keep it under wraps until the final approval was secured. Alongside this declaration, he also included a screenshot of The Boys Season 4’s last episode where most of its content has been redacted to avoid spoilers.

The Climax

The series’ final season, according to Kripke, would present a “gory, epic, moist climax” for the series. In this regard, the main focus will be on the ultimate showdown between Homelander and Butcher. Aside from this, Kripke has also revealed some information about how significant their last battle could be to the storyline.

The Journey

The Boys series has received great reviews so far; with a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes overall. As the seasons continued, more people praised The Boys show. On Rotten Tomatoes, season 1 got 85% while season 3 went up to almost 98%, making it nearly perfect.

The Boys Season 5: What We Know So Far

Even before Season 4 of the popular superhero show has broadcasted, Amazon Prime Video confirmed the production of The Boys Season 5. With a video of Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko carving something on a wooden piece, the streaming service revealed that the actress was writing out ‘Season 5’. That’s about all there is to know regarding the new season at this point.

In response to the news, showrunner Eric Kripke also gave an update on the new season. “Fact Check: True! #TheBoys Writers are already hard at work in the writer’s room. Love these sickos,” he tweeted. However, he was not the only individual who reacted; Antony Starr, who plays Homelander, also shared a message with regards to what will happen next.

If The Boys Season 5 follows the pattern set by previous seasons, we’ll likely see it sometime in summer 2025. Most seasons of The Boys are eight episodes, so Season 5 will likely follow (spandex) suit.

The Boys Season 5: Cast

There is a strong possibility that many of The Boys Season 5 cast choices will be based on what has occurred during Season 4 including the characters who will still be alive at the end of the penultimate season, because this show loves gruesome and violent death scenes. However, for now the following are the top contenders:

Karl Urban as Billy Butcher

Antony Starr as Homelander

Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell

Erin Moriarty as Annie January

Jessie T. Usher as A-Train

Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk

Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko Miyashiro

Chace Crawford as The Deep

Tomer Capone as Frenchie

Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett

Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman

Cameron Crovetti as Ryan

Other actors who may return include Elisabeth Shue, Jensen Ackles, Goran Visnjic, Dominique McElligott, Nathan Mitchell, and Aya Cash.

The End of an Era

The decision to end The Boys with Season 5 allows the show to go out on its own terms. This will ensure that the series does not go beyond its intended lifespan due to network demands for an extra number of seasons. Here’s  hoping that the forthcoming seasons will not disappoint the audience.
