2025 Fall TV Previews: Must-See New and Returning Series
Summer is almost over, but the fall TV lineup is heating up. TV junkies can rejoice because shows like “Abbott Elementary”, “9-1-1,” “The Voice,“ and “Dancing With the Stars“ will return this fall. Unfortunately, this fall we will be seeing the end of long-running shows like “S.W.A.T.”, “E! News”, and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”. With goodbyes also come hello. This fall, we can look forward to new shows to add to our watchlist, 9-1-1, Nashville, and “Monster: The Ed Gein Story”, to name a few.
TV Thrilling New Era Begins
The series 9-1-1 is dominating the TV lineup this fall. Yes, 9-1-1 Lonestar is ending, but the highly anticipated 9-1-1 Nashville will make its season debut on October 9th on ABC, streaming on Hulu. 9-1-1 Nashville is another chapter in the franchise that should be full of surprises and moments that pull at your heartstrings, with executive producers like Ryan Murphy, Angela Bassett, and Brad Falchuk in the driver’s seat. The show also has a star-studded cast featuring LeAnn Rimes, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and Chris O’Donnell as Captain Don Har.
Another creepy yet satisfying show that Netflix’s fans have been waiting on is “Monster: The Ed Gein Story”. The monster series will focus on serial killer Ed Gein, portrayed by Charlie Hunnam. Set to be released on Netflix on October 3rd, be advised that this show will not be for the squeamish because some of Gein’s crimes involved mutilating corpses.
Comedy and Family Take Over
To save you from scrolling, on a brighter note, a family-friendly show to look forward to this fall is 99 to Beat on Fox, September 21st. The show is sure to be hilarious, with host Ken Jeong and Erin Andrews as 100 competitors, competing in a series of challenges to be the last one standing.
DMV employees are usually the butt of many employee jokes, but this fall, the jokes became a reality in the sitcom DMV. Coming to CBS this October 13th, SNL comedian Tim Meadows is an employee at the East Hollywood DMV, and he interacts with co-workers and deals with many eccentric customers and relatable DMV scenarios. Powerful Goodbyes, Lasting Legacies
“E! News“ will truly be missed and be remembered for the mark it made on pop culture and fashion news for over 30 years. “E! News” was known for covering live red carpet events and all things Kardashian, with memorable hosts like Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic. But E! News’ goodbye is not final; yes, it will no longer air on TV, but the show will transition to a heavier online presence. According to “People, “E! News is being canceled as part of the network’s shift toward prioritizing digital and social content. The show’s 11 p.m. time slot “no longer best serves the audience,“ who now prefer “real-time digital coverage.”
“S.W.A.T.” will be cancelled again this fall after making a strong return after being canceled in May 2023. “Bel-Air”, “The Boys”, and “Stranger Things” are shows that will premiere this season, but it will be their final season. Other shows that will not be returning this fall that will be missed are: “Goosebumps”, “The Equalizer “, “Young Dylan”, “Doctor Odyssey”, and “Lopez vs. Lopez”.
