After leaving “Community,” Glover created the FX surreal dramedy called “Atlanta.” He also starred in it as the main protagonist, Earnest Marks, a struggling Princeton dropout. He helps manage his cousin’s hip-hop career, with Brian Tyree Henry playing the cousin. The show received much praise for the actors’ performances and for tackling serious real-world themes. “Atlanta” concluded after Season Four with Glover and the creative team providing a proper ending.

Donald Glover hosted the nineteenth episode of Season 43 of “Saturday Night Live” in 2018. He welcomed the audience with a quick monologue followed by a comedic musical number.
